Kobe Bryant

I Didn't Mean

To Offend Anyone

4/13/2011 3:39 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Kobe Bryant has issued a statement about his homophobic outburst during last night's Lakers game -- essentially admitting to using the word "f**got" and explaining, “What I said last night should not be taken literally."

Kobe continues, "My actions were out of frustration during the heat of the game, period. "

He adds, "The words expressed do NOT reflect my feelings towards the gay and lesbian communities and were NOT meant to offend anyone.”

As we previously reported, Kobe mouthed the words, "f**king f**got" towards an NBA referee last night after he was hit with a technical foul.

He's doin' what his coach "Dr. Phil" Jackson taught him. Search youtube.com for "phil jackson brokeback mountain" or see this ==> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-NLzjcA3kM or maybe he's gay and in denial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkwCVcDc_mM could be.

YES! Freakin' forgive him and move the hell on. It's not like anyone else on the planet has never used those words to express anger and rage. Give the guy a freakin' break.

Those who support him need to think what the reaction would be if he used words like ******, cheap jew, spic, chink or anything of that nature and how they would feel if it was explained away as he has tried to do with the glbt community, it wouldn't fly and it shouldn't with the word ***got.

Non-apology apologies are not apologies.

Kobe needs to be suspended. I don't care how good of a player he is. The NBA will be setting a bad example for young adults and children that watch The Lakers if he is not punished. I hope GLAAD goes after his ass. That referee that Kobe yelled these hateful words to would lose his job if he'd call Kobe the N word. You are a disgrace, Kobe. He got away with the Colorado incident, and will get away with this, too. I am disgusted with his behavior.

Kobe said what he said and it should have never been seen on television. His apology was more than enough. If people are offended then they clearly have too much time on their hands and dull lives. He didn't go up to a gay guy on the court, punch him in the face, and call him a f*ggot. He didn't come out after the game and call anyone a f*ggot or deny gay rights. He used a slang word in a fit of rage that should have never been broadcast.

#31 thosetmzguysarehotiwanttodothemallnotharveythough----Just because gays say F*G and blacks say N**GER or N**GAH...does not make it right...and you, as a "gay" person should see the stupidity at degrading yourself by using such derogatory words. I'm gay and the thought of me using those words to identify my kind is just plain stupid and if you think otherwise you are an idiot.

Was that sex thing you did to the hotel maid " frustration in the heat of the game". To bad that you didn't fall backward on her broom pole. Oh and that big ring that you gave your wife when you got caught doing it to the maid, was that "frustration in the heat of the game". Wonder if the maid took what you did to her "literally".

I hate the politically correctness of this freakin' country. Anyone who thinks he shouldn't be forgiven is being very hypercritical. Everyone's said something rude before whether they want to believe it or not. All these people casting judgment on Kobe need to look at themselves first.

Don't worry about it Kobe. Gays and lesbians are in no place to throw stones. Spend a couple of hours any where near Sebastian street in Fort Lauderdale and you will see what I am talking about.

A lot of you are computer thugs. You wouldn't say the things you're saying in the safety of your own homes in real life. You are weak people. Weak people are those who have to put down others to feel better about themselves.

Also, for those who say "freedom of speech." That has nothing to do with freedom of responsibility of said speech. You may not have realized this, but you can't say whatever you want and get away with it in a civil society.

This isn't just a word. It is a word that has been used to denigrate an entire community for decades. Gay people are not whining, but standing up for themselves and their dignity and humanity. The people who need to get over themselves are those who would ever defend HATE SPEECH as OK. It isn't OK. And the line is being drawn.
