Charlie Sheen Cheats Smoking Law in Toronto

4/14/2011 9:45 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen just found a way to skirt Toronto's strict anti-smoking laws during his show there -- lighting up an electronic cigarette.

Shortly after Charlie hit the stage in Toronto's Massey Hall ... our spies say he bragged about not having an ashtray and said he didn't need any cigs. However, a few minutes later he sparked up one of those electronic cigarettes.

Massey Hall management told TMZ they might shut down the show if Charlie lit up on stage because they could face up to $100,000 in fines from the city.

Charlie's been smoking almost non-stop during every other stop on the tour.

We're told he did light up some real tobacco though ... in front of fans who gathered outside the theater right before the show.

By the way, so far so good ... the crowd inside is loving Sheen's act.

UPDATE 6:07PM PDT: Charlie just thumbed his nose at that letter from WB ... telling the crowd, "Negotiations with 'Two and a Half Men' are moving forward. We need to get in a room and fix this thing ... give the people what they want."

Stay tuned ...

@Nancy: Yes, Nancy, I don't disagree with you. I was talking about the few in the audience tonight who still support him, not about the majority of the people there. Also, reports I read said there were quite a few empty seats in the theater as the show started and even more way before the show ended. Quite a "win" for Charlie. Since he has the "Refuse to Lose" approach, anything he does is "winning" in his mind no matter how badly it turns out in reality.

@PRO US:

"The people who were in that audience in Toronto who still support Charlie after he told them to collectively F-ck Off are inwardly insecure, masochistic morons, IMHO."

"Actually, from everything I've read, the vast majority of them were so drunk that they were still hollering at the stage even during Charlie's "intermission." That's pretty sad... and his fans proclaim this a "win?""

Agreed, wholeheartedly. His actions and statements still have denial written all over them.

That's odd, I just read another article that said Sheen's act sucked, and when it ended, no one knew it had ended or what was going on.

"He said his fallout with Warner Bros. was because they were telling lies about him."....first Charlie said it was because "he was having too much fun", then it was because "they were jealous of him", now it's because "they are telling lies about him." LOL

"I couldn't sit idly by. I was getting $1.25 million an episode. They should know they can't give me that much money and have things stay the same.".....why didn't he ask for a cut in his pay if it was too much money for him to handle.....wait, didn't Charlie say when he got his job back he will ask for a raise of $3 million dollars?

If $1.25 million was making him do drugs and act crazy why would he ask for a raise from $1.25 milion to $3 million? The drugs have fried his brain to the point where he don't make any sense when he talks and obviously can't remember what he says.

I dislike Charlie Sheen. He is mentally ill and too many people are kissing his butt, because he has money, instead of getting him help. Still he did not "skirt" or "cheat" the law, he abided by it, and instead used a non-smoking option to have nicotene. GEEZ, He went out of his way, not to break that one law.

Canadians are known to have some of the best comedians on the planet. We're used to having very funny people. No wonder he bombed, he didn't have a chance in our country.

Charlie Sheen is the new Gary Busey.

Moron Chuckles...the people who want you back on that show ARE THE MINORITY OF PEOPLE SPEAKING UP about you and of course those are the ones you choose to listen to. Most people want you gone. Most people are sick of you and your behavior. Most people would stop watching 2 1/2 Men if you were put back on it. If you were actually listening to what the people want and were truly interested in "giving the people what they want"...and not what your few minions want then you'd shut the hell up and walk away. That's not you though...you only want to listen to those who parrot back to you what you want to hear...very narcissistic of you. Fade away now...just fade away.

That proves that Charlie has both haters and fans. He is nowhere in the middle. You either hate him or love him. LOL

Seriously??? A WIN? Well, we know that they are delusional so what else would we expect?

So just because of a group of idiots got drunk, we should not see Charlie as a winner last night, even though there were plenty who were enjoying his show? If there is at least ONE person that loves what you are doing, you are a winner. But of course not everyone seems to grasp what winning actually is for Charlie and his FANS.
