Katherine's New Lawyer to Estate: Let's Be Fair

4/15/2011 3:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Katherine Jackson has just hired a lawyer to repair the damaged relationship with the Michael Jackson Estate ...trying to unlock some of the money the Estate is raking in and give it to MJ's mom.

Katherine hired Perry Sanders, a big time litigator who, among other things, was pivotal in securing the publishing rights for the proper owners against Master P and the No Limit Records catalog.

Sanders tells TMZ ... he wants to work with MJ Estate lawyer Howard Weitzman to see if they can reach some sort of common ground.

As TMZ first reported, the Estate is already paying Katherine $26,000 a month.  In addition, the Estate has paid off the mortgage to the Jackson family home, bought her a car, hired a cook and paid for various vacations and other expenses.

Katherine and her people feel they haven't gotten enough dough, given that the Estate has made hundreds of millions of bucks since Michael's death.

For his part, Weitzman tells TMZ, "If Mr. Sanders is in fact Mrs. Jackson's new lawyer, I will be glad to talk to him."

Maybe, if Mrs. Jackson, had gotten her kids away from their abusive father, Michael wouldn't have been so messed up and on all the medications. All those kids are a mess, because of their parents. Maybe, before being so greedy, she should stop and think about that.

MAMA JACKSON TURNED OUT TO BE A FIRST CLASS LEECH!!! Who'da thunk it??? Michael's spirit will, someday, come back to haunt her and anyone else whose grubby fingers are fighting for the biggest piece of the pie. The greatest revenge would be when Michael's children become of age, have learned all the true facts, then throw grandma out on her backside only to become a recipient on welfare. Far fetched? Who knows!

Compared to other Americans, Michael Jackson made it possible for his parents and siblings
for the past 40+ years to live a "lush life" i.e. have more money than most other people.
If he hadn't worked so hard for Katherine and Joe and their children, maybe Michael Jackson would
still be alive, today.

All Michael is asking his 80+ year old mother to do now is look out for the well-being of his children, because he can no longer be with them.

Stop thinking about the money, Katherine,
and concentrate on parenting Michael's children.
In just 4 years Prince Michael will be 18 years old, and then you will be left wondering where the time went, while you were spending your time with lawyers.

I truly believe that Michael Jackson is aware of what is going on, and knows he made the right decisions, concerning protecting his wealth so it will go to his own children, and not the children and grandchildren of Katherine and Joe Jackson.

Wow you guys are so gullible

I don't know if these are haters or plants... or maybe both.
But when I read things like "Go Team Branca" I have to laugh. I'm sure that's exactly what Michael would have wanted" When I die, please give any money made off my name to lawyers and executors, screw my family, my kids, and charities."

You can't educate people who are ignorant and don't know they are.

She seriously needs to sit down, shut up, and thank her lucky stars that some competent people are in charge of the estate.

I've never figured out if I think she is evil or weak, but either way, I am far more concerned about keeping whatever money there is safe for MJ's children than I am about Katherine. If she can't live on $26K per month in California, maybe she needs to move back to Gary.

40% of an estate that still owes over $300 million is NADA. She's already gotten over $10 million dollars in less than two years by one blog's estimate using the court do***ents.

Greed. Plain and simple. They milked Mike for all he was worth and helped put him in the grave and now the kids become The Bank of Jackson.

Wow you guys are so gullible

Maybe Michael left 40% to his mother knowing that in her heart she would distribute her 40% to the rest of his family fairly and responsibly.
Just a thought.

It's hilarious to read the Jackson freeloader plants posting here.

Get jobs, idiots, and stop whining about Michael's will!

The executors get paid because they are doing their job to pay off MJ's debts AND pay money to Katherine (which she does nothing to earn, and hurts at every chance)

Jackson freeloafers posting here whining instead of doing anything useful, you are a disgrace to Michael!

how much has TMZ made since MJ died?

"Gullible" is the WORST of the freeloading Jackson family shills.

Do not believe a single word he says, the loser.

He hates Michael because Michael wrote him out of the will. That was Michael's choice!

They probably just put the money back in his account that they had hidden or stolen. If his family uses every penny, that is better than letting a non family member live like kings. We have no idea if those papers were legit that let the Estate biggies make so many decisions.

No way in hell MJJ would have stipulated in his will that if anyone questioned the will, their share stops.....who is mentioned in the will.....His Mother, children, and charities, now who was that meant for?

Get real. Some people just cannot let the world move on when a former poor kid is the best known entertainer on earth and has the funds to prove it. We don't know if MJJ was drugged, poisoned, or what, so until then we cannot call Mrs. Jackson such rotten names. If she did not get a penny, what difference would that make in our lives????none

Best Mom

It is no big secret that Michael was in dire financial trouble when he passed. To their credit, the Estate has made alot of money since Michael's passing -- all to the advantage of the kids, Katherine, and yes, themselves. The average, everyday person could never comprehend the in's and out's of handling this amount of money. But I think if the Estate gave Katherine a seat at the table and included her a little more in some of the decisions being made, we would not be hearing all these sad and disturbing stories.

@Joe: regarding what good a car is without a driver, obviously she has a driver. With $26,000 per month and that large an estate with so many rooms, she could easily pay a salary to a driver, with room and board being part of his salary -- so not so large a cash layout for her. I'm sure she must also have friends and relatives who could use the car to drive her around, rather than putting the mileage and wear and tear on their own and probably older cars. Or maybe the estate pays for a chauffer too. So think before you talk about how "dumb" people are when you don't seem to have thought the matter through at all.
