Harvey, saw the mini debate the other night on TMZ about Kobe Bryant using a gay slur, which I am assuming is "*** or ***got." Being the same age as you i'm sure you remember people referring to gay people as "Burning ***gots." Although it is disputed I read many years ago that the term ***got began with the inquisition of Europe, when witches were being burned, among those sought out for burning were gay people, who at the time lived in colonies away from the main populations. They were required to gather "bundles of sticks" (the real meaning of the word) with which they would be burnt. When the sticks were running out, gay men were wrapped in cloth and thrown on the fire to keep it going for the witches. The word came to mean gay man. If this is the case then this word has murderous implications and should not be taken lightly. Just a little Gay History 101. Thanks for your time. Bill
