Charlie Sheen -- The RACE for Washington

4/19/2011 2:45 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

If Charlie Sheen expects to make it from an L.A. courtroom to his performance in Washington D.C. on time tonight -- dude better get his ass in gear ... because he'll need EVERY SECOND!!!

0419_race_against_time_ex_2
Charlie is scheduled to take the stage at DAR Constitution Hall in D.C. at 8:00 PM EST for his "My Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour ... but he's currently in L.A. dealing with his child custody case.

Assuming Charlie has a private jet on standby ... and factoring in that the average commercial flight from L.A. to D.C. is about 4-and-a-half hours ... and the 3-hour time change ... Charlie would have to be wheels up by NOON to give himself a realistic shot.

Sources at the DAR tell us at this point staffers have not been told the show has been cancelled ... and they are proceeding as scheduled.

Will Charlie make it??? STAY TUNED!!

UPDATE 10:47 AM PST: Charlie was just seen leaving the courtroom ... and should be heading to his car any moment.

Total non-story. A private jet will get him there with plenty of time to spare, and that's how Charlie rolls. Weak TMZ...

The judge overseeing Charlie Sheen's $100 million lawsuit against Warner Bros. and Two and a Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre is allowing media to film the proceedings.

In a ruling Tuesday morning, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Allan Goodman told lawyers for the parties that he would allow a single video camera to be present during the case.

Warner Bros and Lorre had opposed the requests from several media organizations. Sheen's attorneys had no objection.

"This is a public forum," Goodman told the courtroom, about half filled with journalists.

Lawyers for Sheen, Warners and Lorre are in court Tuesday morning arguing over whether the dispute over Sheen's firing from Men will be public or proceed in a private arbitration.

He's seen just leaving the court room. Guess he told the judge he had to leave because his concert is more important than getting custody of his children, unless he has them with him. Like that will ever happen.

Oh, who really cares if he shows up aside from himself? Like if he doesn't show up it's going to ruin somebody's day?

Well, if it's true, then it says a lot about the judicial system in the US, I'm afraid and poves what I have been saying about mothers being treated better than fathers, no matter how crappy the mothers are.

That's exactly why they're reporting on his travel habits instead of the outcome.

Charlie has never been on time for any show on the tour thus far. When he showed up 45 minutes late for the last show, he said that's how he rolls. Why should the DC show be any different?

As long as this post is about time, you might want to correct your time zones - LA is currently on PDT (Pacific Daylight Time), not PST (Pacific Standard Time). Same thing for DC (now on EDT, not EST).

PDT/EDT are an hour ahead of PST/EST - clocks moved ahead a month ago.
