Cops Launch Investigation Into Charlie Sheen Escort

4/22/2011 12:01 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen is no stranger to escorts ... but the one he picked up in D.C. earlier this week has triggered a police investigation.

0422_charlie_sheen_BN

D.C. police have announced ... an internal investigation is underway to find out who authorized multiple units to use lights and sirens to escort Sheen from the airport to his live show Tuesday night ... when he was running about an hour late.

Sheen tweeted during the incident -- posting a photo of a speedometer right around the 80 mph mark and writing, "in car with Police escort in front and rear! driving like someone's about to deliver a baby! Cop car lights."

UPDATE: Apparently Charlie got the Obama treatment ... DC PD released a statement saying escort duty is typically reserved for POTUS, the VP, or visiting heads of state. They admit it appears "protocols ... were not followed" -- and Internal Affairs is investigating.

You'll find it in the stacks right next to the studies of men who have no sense of subtlety or irony.

Incidentally, does anybody know if there's already been any research done about why it always turns out to be women who seem to be incapable of getting a straight point?

Around here (MA) the highway limit is usually posted at 65 with most in the middle and high speed lanes going 75 - 85 on average. So not the speed but maybe the police who may have escorted when they didn't have the ok to do so while on duty?.. still not really Chuck's fault as I see it.

Good point. Anyone who agrees to accommodate Chucklehead's ridiculous demands ought to be held accountable.

How come this became an attack on Charlie? Aren't people supposed to be blaming the cops who AGREED to do that, if anybody?? LOL!!

Someone had to call the cops to request this escort I
I would think someone from his camp. The Cops I am sure didn't sit here on TMZ and say ok he lands at this time we will go escort him to the show.

Chuckie shot himself in the foot again by blabbering about his escort. In doing so, he got the cops in trouble, even if HE isn't in any trouble. Cops are a brotherhood all across the nation... this is going to make any cop think more than twice about accommodating Chuckie in the future. At least, it SHOULD.

Will at least allow the various PD's to identify the cops in their midst with questionable professionalism. The Chuckehead Separating the Wheat from the Chaff/Tares Tour.

OBTW, another old hippieism just sprang to mind: Its not really a battle of wits if its only one sided. :-)

Given the cir***stance and concern for motorist safety, the D.C. Police did the correct thing to offer a motorcade escort.

Read the DCPD guidelines for what constitutes "celeb safety" warranting a police escort. A celeb planning to speed does not fall within those guidelines.

Which raises more questions. Who was driving the car that Chuckles was in while he was tweeting and making photos? Is it legal in DC to use a cell phone while driving?

So many questions for the investigators to explore if they choose to.

Please explain "ksis speak" to poor old confused me. I understand that "THING" is less complimentary than "whore" - but is "IT" even less complimentary than "THING"? I'd really like to know just exactly how insulted I SHOULD feel, please.
