ABC Accused Of Stiffing 'General Hospital' Creators

General Hospital is not the longest runnning soap in television history. That honor goes to Guiding Light, which was on the air, radio and tv, for 72 years before it was canceled in 2009. It made its television debut in 1952. As the world Turns went on the air in April 1956 and was canceled in 2010.

Actually, TMZ get your facts straight-Guiding Light was THE longest running drama in television and radio history-since 1937 which was canceled in 2009. Do a little more research.

I'd like to see ABC get slapped up alongside the head really hard after they have abused the soap fans for so long and now with a cancellation! Brian Frons is the WORST!!!!

I've heard two reasons, as to why OLTL and AMC are cancelled:

1. Extensive research was done, and the findings showed that Soaps are generally watched by Women, and most are now in the workforce, and not home during the day.

2. The times have changed, and most people are looking for new shows, such as Cooking, Interior Design, Fashion, etc.

My response to this is, well, it's a bunch of bull! Yes, there are more Women working now, then years ago, when the Soaps first started and became popular. There is also a large population of viewers who are home during the day, for more than one reason, such as, young Mothers, Seniors, unemployed, etc. And many who work during the day, tape the Soaps, to watch in the evening.
Cooking, Fashion, and Interior Design Shows? I don't think so! Most People have Cable, where they can watch those Shows; even the regular channels have a selection (i.e., Nate Berkus, Rachael Ray,etc.).

And why the need for ABC7(in So. Calif.) to have eight hours of News? If there's no one Home during the day, who's watching the News from 11AM - 12PM? And yes, I know there's a huge difference in the budget for News versus Soaps, but even so, who needs to hear/see repeats, of what was telecast earlier in the day, let alone, from the PREVIOUS week? Waste of money!
General Hospital should be the Soap to go; the story lines deviated from what was centered around the Hospital Staff, years ago. Sonny (Gangster) is the center of attention, for the most part, glorifying killing, bullying, cover-ups, etc. What the hell were the Producers and Network thinking, when they allowed this to dominate GH? Crappy Writers, as well.

This case has been building for some time now...and is bigger than big, believe me. A cancelation of the show will not stop it from moving forward by any means.

Not surprised. GH is clearly corrupt in a lot of other ways as well. Not to mention they've been stiffing Liason fans too!

The solution is simple, just fire Brian Frons and Anne Sweeney and give their salaries to the estate. And while you're at it, throw in Disneyland for good measure.

Surprised?? ABC = All But Cares?? no one..why do you think Katherine Heigel ran??? she learned early about ABC...ya she got movie gigs but knowing about ABC made it that much easier...what are the rest of Grey in lately?? enough said...
