Zuckerberg's New Home -- You Paid $7 Mil for That?

5/6/2011 5:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Facebook honcho Mark Zuckerberg just dropped $7 million on a new pad in Palo Alto ... and it's nice and everything ... but $7 MILLION ... REALLY?

0505_zuckerberg_house_launch
The 5,000 sq ft home includes a saltwater pool, glassed in sunroom, outside fireplace, 5 bedrooms and 5 baths ... but no apparent grotto, helipad or batcave.

So we gotta ask ...

Bet the security system surrounding that home is worth 5 mil on it's own...If i were him? I'd go the Bill Gates route and have a high security cliff top home that has been inspected by Navy Seals.

if you know the area that's about right. if the yard didn't have a pool it would probably only be worth 4mil.

There is absolutely no place in the Bay Area that is worth paying that much money to live in, no matter how "nice" it may be. Boring!

That's what you get in Palo Alto, one of the most expensive places to live in the U.S.

It has a salt water pool? Who would want to swim in that?

Location, location, location. If you were familiar with the area you would know condos are $800,000+ for a tiny condo. You can't beat the weather and it's only 30minutes to San Francisco and 30minutes to the beach.

Don't even know why you posted the picture. It obviously suited him and that's is really all that mattered. Homes are what people will pay for them and in his case this is pocket change. Frankly I admire his humbleness, demand for privacy and living simply...sorta like Warren Buffett.

" Rip-off? "

This young man, Mr. Zuckerberg, seems to have his personal lifestyle watched, dissected, and scrutinized more intensely than nearly any other "well-off" person that I can think of. This property and home have an "established" look with character and charm, which is a refreshing change of pace when compared to some of the modern styling trends. If Mark felt comfortable with the home, property, and price, . . . then, where is the issue? I'm fairly certain, that he likely would have had an accomplished realtor or lawyer working on his behalf, who would have directly referenced a current and valid appraisal. Overall, this young man seems to be very conservative and cautious with expenditures, when one considers the amount of resource which he has available. Mark seems to offer noteworthy donations to charity, even above and beyond the uber high federal and state tax paid each year (which at that amount, a lot will drift down toward welfare programs, etc). We don't see Mr. Zuckerberg wasting his useful resources on excessive partying, chemicals, or other frivolous elements. He's an intelligent person, living a healthy lifestyle.

Should we start inspecting his lunch receipts, as well??????

NICE, TMZ ! ! !

@ LINZ , . . . It is designed to "mimic" ocean water, but without the seaweed, critters, and other unwanted elements.

It's quite apparent that most posters have NO IDEA of how expensive it is to live in Silicon Valley! The house is no more expensive than many others in that neighborhood.I am a native of the area. "Affordable" means one million dollars or a little less--bear in mind that "affordable" means the buyer will either do extensive remodeling, tear it down and do a complete rebuild.

The San Francisco Bay Area is the land of the jumbo loan.In my neck of the woods, condos start at six hundred thousand and up and there are no houses less than nine hundred thousand dollars.Current listings are for $4 million and $2.85 million.

Seven Million?! I applaud the real estate agent and the seller. I like the idea that that little twerp was taken to the cleaners. Besides, I think I saw this house listed not to long ago for less than 4 million. I hope I'm right and they just jacked little Marky boy for some of that Facebook money.
