Lindsay Lohan Gets Merciful Sentence for Theft

5/11/2011 10:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan dodged a huge bullet today  -- she won't be locked up in jail  ... this after pleading no contest to misdemeanor theft.

Lindsay's attorney Shawn Holley entered the plea a few minutes ago -- Lindsay wasn't in court.

Judge Stephanie Sautner said during the hearing, she doesn't believe Lindsay's problem is substance abuse, but rather her problems are more deeply rooted and she is self-medicating to relieve those problems.  As a result, Judge Sautner is not requiring Lindsay to undergo substance abuse counseling.

Lindsay will not get additional time for the theft.  She will be required to serve 120 days for her probation violation, and we've learned the Sheriff's Department  may allow Lindsay to do the time at home, with an electronic monitoring device.

In reality, the 120 days will amount to 14 days.  But during that time, Lindsay cannot leave her home, even to do community service.

Lindsay must complete psychological counseling and a shoplifters alternative class -- seriously.

Once Lindsay completes her 480 hours of community service, her probation in the DUI case will terminate, but Lindsay is now on 3 years probation for the theft -- so if she screws up again, she's screwed.

This is not "California Justice" it is Los Angeles County justice There are 58 counties in Los Angeles. Most other counties do 85% time in county jail. LA is under a Federal Court order as is the state prison system to keep the jails and prisons from overcrowding...just so happens every criminal and nut job (including where you are from) comes here and fvcks up our county to be in the music biz, movie biz, TV biz or collect General Relief because LA County is the only one that does it.

CASE IN POINT - LL WAS BORN AND RAISED IN NEW YORK (LONG ISLAND) AND DID NOT COME HERE UNTIL SHE WAS AN ADULT.

I think the judge was spot on in saying this woman’s problems are not fundamentally substance-abuse related. She wasn’t high when she stole the necklace. She didn’t steal it to get $$ for drugs. She stole it because she’s an entitled bee-otch. Some people, like Ms. Lohan have got such intrinsically bad personalities that the psychiatric community has had to come up with diagnoses like “borderline personality disorder” or “narcissistic personality disorder” to explain them. I suppose that she’ll be treated for something like that but the fact is, there is no treatment that works with the these people because the real issue is that they s#@k as a human beings and that’s impossible to cure. Good luck with her staying on the straight and narrow for 3 years. It’s about as likely as the Pope converting to Judaism.

Nicole,
You're so funny, always blaming Revel for LL's problems.

You guys that live in LA can VOTE that star struck POS judge off the bench. The brazen sh*t that goes down in the courts in California boggles my mind... and that there's not a revolt is even more mind altering.

I'm CERTAIN that if her name was Tanisha, Teshawn, or Juan that effed up judge wouldn't be sympathetic..."she doesn't believe Lindsay's problem is substance abuse, but rather her problems are more deeply rooted and she is self-medicating to relieve those problem". Of course it's deep rooted BITCH, and you're not making it any better...

I wonder how much she was promised for her run in the next election.

I though it was significant that Sautner didn't think from reading Lindsay's file, that she was an addict. She thought Lindsay was self medicating. I think the counselling, CS and three year probation are all very constructive.

Maybe not as punitive as some would like, but truly Lindsay's family and friends should be happy for her today. No t let's hope they support her.

Lindsay is obviously acting under some kind of compulsion. I hope they find the right help for her.

For something she did not do ,intent to steal the necklace ,this is a heavy load for her to carry .
I hope she can carry it but it will take more than hope .
I still think SH could have done better for her , but I think that she is done with the mess too .
They all went for the"quick " fix . It will come back on LIndsay down the road.
UCLA said that she did not have mental or drug issues , that is why they released her early .
Sad day really.
