Springfield to Cop:

'I Will F**king Kill You'

5/16/2011 6:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Rick Springfield threatened to kill a deputy sheriff and the deputy's family the night he was arrested for drunk driving ... yet there is no mention of the incident in the arrest report -- law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

Springfield was arrested in Malibu on May 1 and blew a .10 -- above the legal limit.

Sources tell us ... Springfield was extremely angry after the deputy said his $200,000, 1963 Corvette Stingray would be towed away. Law enforcement sources tell us, Springfield yelled to the deputy, "If you tow my car I will f**king kill you and your family."

Law enforcement sources tell us ... back at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, the captain who runs the station asked the deputy, "Did you really feel threatened?" Our sources say some of the deputies at the station felt it was a loaded question, trying to minimize Springfield's statement.

In the end, our sources say there was no mention of the threat in the arrest report -- the report merely says Springfield was "belligerent."

You may recall, the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station is the place where the Mel Gibson 2006 DUI arrest report was rewritten to exclude Mel's anti-Semitic rant.

As for Springfield, his rep gave TMZ this statement: "Someone has leaked information illegally. It's a sad reflection on society today that people in law enforcement who we look up to, pander to the celebrity gossip channels."

LA County Sheriff's Dept. spokesman Steve Whitmore tells TMZ, "It is rare when a drunk doesn't say something outlandish to police when they're arrested. I have no idea what went down with this one, I wasn't there, but drunks are notorious for saying stupid, outlandish things to law enforcement all the time. Law enforcement's job is to get them off the streets, because they're drunk."

The D.A. currently has the file and is deciding whether to charge Springfield with DUI.

I certainly hope they don't let him get away with his crimes the way they did with Mel Gibson. This will be very interesting to watch what the sheriff's department does, because if they let him off, a clear pattern will have emerged, because he's not much better than Mel when it comes to his views. He may not have publically gone on a loud anti-Semitic rant, but he's been an open and repeated supporter of islamofaciasts FOR YEARS! Definitely NOT the type of person you want to allow to get away with these or any other types of crimes.

Humor us, what kind of people do you feel we should allow to get away with "these types of crimes"? lol

(simple dui, no accident, no injury, and making a drunken idle threat to the officer who just arrested him, and who felt it had no merit and was simply said in spite) Officers have "lawful discretion" to not arrest people for minor crimes and this officer decided to exercise his. Who are you second guess his judgement about the threat?

I don't give a f&ck what Rick's politics are. If he committed DUI then that's his crime and the judicial system should treat him no better or worse then anyone else for his crime. His political leanings have nothing to do with how severely he should or shouldn't be punished.

The Malibu/Lost Hills Station is known for its special treatment of Celebs should be stopped with all people treated alike.
It is time for Whitmore to retire so someone can lead the Sherrifs Dept with respect and fairness to all citizens.
Mitrice Richardson deserved better treatment than she got, Mel Gibson got a ride home. Mitrice not, she is dead and the Sherrif's Dept is being sued.

40 years in the business and a whopping 2 "scandals" out of him. Wow. Yeah, he's a habitual offender alright. Lock him up.

/sarcasm

If a pattern emerges showing him to be a drunken abuser, then I'll take heed of the negative. Until then, he's someone who screwed up. How many of you here have threatened to "kill" someone? I'm willing to bet at least 1/3 of the commenters have made such a "threat" in anger, drunk or sober. What's that? You didn't say it to a police officer? So what? You still said it, didn't you?

Police aren't above it all. I personally know a total douchebag who admitted some days he went to work with the intent of causing trouble for as many people as he could. They're just as corrupt as anyone, maybe more so -- absolute power corrupts absolutely. Remember that.

I am sorry, but I thought that all arrests were supposed to be public.

He's 62, and still looks good.

Drunks rant and rave endlessly when they're arrested. The police wouldn't have enough time to write everything they say. nor do they take it personally. Their jobs are to get them off the street, the end. Their job is not to placate bloggers who are ready to jump down their throats. Grow up, Mr. Springfield. You have a problem, this isn't the first time. Get some help before you kill someone.

...what about when he lived with Linda Blair when she was something like 15 and he was 25? What up with that Ricky? He has always been a mama's boy and cried....

If sense were common everyone would have it.

How about "It's a sad reflection on society" when anyone thinks it's still acceptable to drive drunk & make terroristic threats to the person who's calling you on it?

Yeah talk about a sex scandal back in freewheeling 1974 California. It was very scandalous that 25 yr old Rick was having a live-in relationship with a 15 yr old Hollywood starlet back then. /sarcasm

I mean remember, this was back in the conservative 1970's when just 4 years later in 1978, 11~12 yr old Brooke Shields played a child prostitute including plenty of full frontal nudity in the "R" rated film "Pretty Baby".

Yeah Ricks relationship with Blair was quite the scandal back then. lol
