Botox Mom:

I MADE IT ALL UP

FOR MONEY!

5/19/2011 10:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The woman who went on "Good Morning America," claiming she injected her 8-year-old daughter with Botox, now swears under oath ... she made the entire story up for a few hundred bucks.

Kerry Campbell Botox

TMZ has obtained a sworn declaration written by Sheena Upton, who claims she was recently approached by the British tabloid, The Sun, and asked "to play the role of Kerry Campbell" for a story called "I Give My 8-Year-Old Daughter Botox."

Upton now confesses The Sun paid her $200 adding, "I was provided with the story, instructions and a script to follow for a recorded interview."

After the story ran in The Sun, Upton says she was approached by "Good Morning America" and "Inside Edition" and claims she was offered  "a large fee" to appear on camera.  She went on both shows and re-told her story.

After the interview, child welfare officials took Upton's daughter away.

Upton now admits in her declaration, "The truth is I have never given my daughter Botox, nor allowed her to get any type of waxing, nor is she a beauty pageant contestant."

Upton says professionals agree with her declaration, because on May 17, she took her daughter to the UCLA Medical Center and says, "After my daughter received a full medical exam, the results indicated that she has not ever received treatments including Botox or other such injections."

We're told the UCLA reports were forwarded to child welfare officials, who then returned Upton's daughter to her, with the provison that a cousin would stay with her and the child for the time being.

As for "Good Morning America" -- sources connected with Upton claim she was promised $10,000 to appear.  We do not know how much she was offered for "Inside Edition."

As for the declaration -- signed under penalty of perjury -- we're told Upton wrote it so her lawyer can secure full rights to custody of her daughter.

An ABC News insider tells TMZ, "There is no truth to the story about compensation, but they did pay a broker no more than $10,000 to license photos."

UPDATE 8:20 AM PT: An ABC News spokesman tells us, "We have just seen the sworn declaration on TMZ written by Sheena Upton, a.k.a. Kerry Campbell , and are vigorously investigating her most recent statement and rapidly shifting story."

The rep continues, "Good Morning America has repeatedly questioned Upton, members of her family, and other sources who again and again stood by the Botox story."

"Good Morning America is solely interested in getting to the truth and will share with our audience any new information that we find."

Personally, I think she's lying NOW because she didn't realize the can of worms she opened up with her declaration on GMA. Warped minds like hers tend to believe that everyone else thinks the way they do. So now that she's lost custody and is one of the most despised women since Octomom, she's concocted this new lie to mitigate the damage.

However, even if she's telling the truth, she still willingly conspired with the Sun to use her own daughter to propogate a falsehood that she must've known would paint her in a negative light. I'm not sure that's any better than what she's accused of with the exception that it means her daughter wasn't subjected to such cruel treatment. It certainly doesn't make her look any less pathetic and despicable as a mother.

Whatever happens to her at this point, she deserves either way.

Regardless if she made it up & didn't inject her daughter with botox - she still injected her with something (water, saline, etc) - she caused her child undo pain. In my eyes, what she did to her daughter is abusive, both physically & mentally.

Disgusting and awful parenting! In the photos the child has several pimples in her face that don't show in the television appearances. Could she be wearing that much make-up?

Why shouldn't she be able to keep her daughter? She didn't harm her in any way. People make mistakes, maybe she was hard up for money and needed to feed her daughter. You do not know what situation she was in or how desperate she was. She obviosly realized that it was a mistake and recanted her story, I'm sure she will think before she acts in the future.

I think back to to good old days when news show producers and on-air personnel were much more intelligent. Idiotic things like this would not get reported until they were checked out and, even then, probably wouldn't make it to the news desk. Just think, if they have to pay for a story then it's not news, it's pulp fiction. I've quit ABC a long time ago.

So what is the timeline for detection of botox use? Does the evidence stay forever, or does it clear after a certain time period? What methods did UCLA use to make its determination, and what do they say about clearance times?

"Should all child actors/actresses be removed from their homes because they LIE? Are you all going to refuse to watch tv now because the children are being paid to lie? SERIOUSLY?"

You're kidding, right? There's a HUGE difference between these two scenarios. Assuming for a moment that she's telling the truth and not lying to cover her own ass, several things need to be considered.

First, what is she being hired to do? She's being asked to lie for the purpose of generating publicity for a magazine.

Second, how does she achive this? The "actor" is going on television to represent a "false" story as the truth. It's deceptive, misleading, and an abuse of media programs that deal only in facts that may or may not be considered legitimate news. It's not the same as if she were paid to perform in an advertisement that is clearly defined as such.

Third, is the "actor" aware that she is telling a falsehood to parties that are not "in" on the act and are therefore inclined to believe what she says? Absolutely. Her entire "performance" relies on this. If they DON'T believe her, she has failed.

If someone pays an "actor" to play a role as part of a confidence scheme to defraud you, would only the employer be at fault or would the "actor" share some of that responsibility as well? Actors - whether they're street performers, television actors, movie actors, or stage actors - are hired to play a role
to an audience that generally KNOWS that the characters they're playing aren't real.

Uh, if you made it all up, I would want your daughter kept away from you even more. You are a psycho if you think that is a good thing or think it is okay. Next thing the mom will be making her child sick on purpose to get attention and sympathy from the hospital staff and doctors.
