Oscar De La Hoya

In Rehab

5/21/2011 12:37 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has entered rehab ... TMZ has learned.

We're told De La Hoya is seeking treatment for a substance abuse problem and checked into a California-area facility within the last few weeks.

De La Hoya has posted a flurry of very introspective tweets in the past few days, including, "Take a deep breathe and let out all that anger that makes you hate. it really is going to be o.k." and "Stop finding excuses not to live. life is controlled by what you make of it and not of what it makes of you."

De La Hoya retired back in 2009. He had a career record of 39-6, held several championship belts, and won an Olympic Gold Medal back in 1992.

I will keep him in my prayers and I have faith that everything it will be ok,for him and his family,we're not perfect, and I know he is a good guy, very strong who has helped alot of people especially young adolencents, to start with his good example. I know this is just one of the trials he is facing, but he is going to make it. Good Luck I wish you the best

Oscar "GAY" La Hoya needs to see a shrink instead! He needs to deal with coming out of the closet! Maybe he should wait though because it would be career suicide to admit to being gay in the sports world. You are who you are and people need to deal with gay athletes. Good luck in rehab!

To say that DeLaHoya had several championship belts is idiotic and disrespectful. Do some research and you will find that he is a 6 weight division champion of the world! He has also won 16 fights against former champions of the world in boxing. And, he never ducked a fight in his life. He took on any opponent, unlike the the fake Floyd Mayweather, who has been ducking the real pound for pound fighter in the world, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, and who is now making a fool of himself by burning $100 bills in public. Part of the millions that he did not deserve when DelaHoya gave him the chance to enter the ring with him.
