Willow and Jaden Smith

Mentoring MJ's Kids

5/25/2011 11:05 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Jaden and Willow Smith didn't just bump into MJ's kids on a movie set in L.A. yesterday -- TMZ has learned, it was all set up by Katherine Jackson ... to help nudge her grandchildren in a positive direction.

Sources close to Katherine tell TMZ, she believes the Smith children are prime examples of young success in Hollywood -- both extremely talented and down-to-earth -- and thinks Prince, Paris, and Blanket could learn a lot from them.

According to sources, Katherine wants to surround her grandchildren with role models like Jaden and Willow -- so she set up the meet-and-greet ... and we're told, the kids got along like a house on fire.

Katherine wants Michael's kids to enjoy their childhood -- and is actively encouraging them to become involved in all kinds of activities ... including acting.

The children should really meet with Will and Jayda;the parents are the reason why the children are doing so well.

She probably resents the fact that they go to school with white children so she wants them to hang out with blacks. I bet she would be happy is Paris had a baby with Jafar, so that the new crop of kids can be real Jacksons. Which is so funny because MJ went out of his way to buy white children. If he wanted black children, he would have had his own.

Just watch, n a few years, Paris will have a few black baby daddies, Prince will be married to a black chick.

"Got along like a house on fire"? Isn't a house on fire usually a bad thing, or is that the point they were trying to make?

LOL! Yep, there's Katherine giving 'em that 'normal childhood' by encouraging them to become CHILD ACTORS?! This woman truly was completely oblivious to the plight of her son Michael wasn't she? How many times did MJ talk about commiserating with other 'child stars' about the pressures of fame, childhood years stolen away, feeling traded like a commodity? This lady definitely 'hears what she wants to hear' doesn't she? The terms 'normal childhood' & 'child actor' are mutually EXCLUSIVE. Too bad Liz isn't around anymore. She'd probably give this woman a real earful about what it was to be thrust into the spotlight at an early age. I realize these kids have expressed an interest in the industry BUT considering the fate of their father, it's TOO SOON. MJ gave over his entire being to entertaining the masses & paid the steepest price. I understand there is much controversy as to whether he was or was not an addict but we know for a fact he WAS in '93 & by all accounts he did overcome it but relapse is simply part of the disease & happens to 8/10 addicts at least once in their recovery. It simply can't be ignored that his addiction most definitely re-emerged sometime again after '93 & probably more than one occassion. Think he battled hard to overcome it & struggled with addiction/dependence, whatever word we 'like' to use to describe MJ's pharmaceutical problem but he DID die of a Propofol overdose. Common sense would tell anyone that clearly he was in a very advanced stage of addictive behavior at the time of his death. Therefore, WHY oh WHY would Katherine even think this is a good idea right now? Acting in their school plays or community theatre is one thing but encouraging them into the Hollywood mainstream? She's either totally clueless of the pitfalls or I smell 'the Catfish' behind this one. At this rate she will have her little 'performing circus bears' trained & raking in the cash in no time!

Those are the last 2 kids I think they should spend time with. They are not focused on education just the HWood/music business and their parents might be scientologists.

They are perhaps a better option than some of the cousins.

Katherine find some nice Gleeks for these kids for now!

The Smith family should keep their hands over their 'goods' because once a Jackson, always a Jackson. You never know if the fruit cake doesn't fall far from the tree.

I think it's a good idea for them to get to know other "famous" kids. I too want to know if "Got along like a house on fire" is a good thing or bad??

Makes sense. The Smith kids know how to handle themselves when it comes to showbiz and the Jackson kids got to learn since MJ's not here to teach them. Who better to learn from than kids their own age?

You know, MJ have had his issues, but at least he protected his children. He is probably turning in his grave right now.

From Yahoo:
If two people are getting on "like a house on fire" it just means they are getting on very well, good rapport, chatting away and becoming friends. A very commonly used English expression.

My mother used to use this expression. It's an old one & it's 'a good thing':)
