Mariah Carey Twins Probe -- Case Closed

5/26/2011 4:10 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services has just wrapped up its interview with Mariah Carey and has concluded there is no merit to the investigation -- sources connected with DCFS tell TMZ.

We're told DCFS social workers interviewed Mariah and spent time with the twins -- and concluded the children were in a healthy and safe environment.

The investigation was triggered by an anonymous phone call to DCFS complaining that Mariah drank a Guinness beer while she was breast feeding.

As we reported, Mariah was informed by a hospital staffer that drinking a dark beer would assist her in lactating.  We're told Mariah informed social workers she simply followed the hospital staffer's advice and drank the Guinness, never hiding the fact that she consumed the drink.

We're told Mariah's lawyer, Laura Wasser, was present during the DCFS interview today.

Our DCFS sources say officials have concluded there is no merit to the complaint.

Abe, WTF are you talking about? You seem to have a dialogue going on in your head that has nothing to do with anything related to this board or this story. Get some help, jacka$$!

It sounds like it won't be too hard to figure out who the snitch was. Some people need to get a life. I don't personally know Mariah (wish I did) but I'm sure shes a good mother and would never intentionally put her children in harms way.

In the UK they've been giving Guinness to lactating mothers for decades. The also give it to the elderly, it's good for them, has a lot of vitamin B and iron. Very common thing. They're slogan is "Guinness is good for you" for a reason.

The unfortunate truth here is that regardless if it was nonsense or not (Which I think it was) once DCFS receives a complaint they MUST make a home visit. They likely planned to close the case from the beginning but they had to do it and in the mean time while they had to waste that time and effort someone who really needed them was left to wait because of some ninny who needed to be nosy.

OMG - My PEDIATRICIAN told me to do the very same 20 years ago!!
I didn't listen to him because to do a thing like that is just not in my nature - BUT obviously doctors do hand out this kind of advice to new Moms - that being said, it is a SHAME Mariah and family had to go through this!!

...I have witnessed Mimi on several occasions drink many of men, self included, under a table or two.

Is Mimi an alcoholic??? Ehh....However, calling out the tot-police because she may or may have not consumed a bottle of beer, while breast feeding is a smidgen over the top.

There are children in this country, that have been literally locked away in basements and cellars, that have not seen the light of day in years.

CPS. should best their services tending to the whereabouts of these children, than worrying about if some celebrity indulged in a bottle of deliciously scrumptious, ice cold, liquid barley......Artofwar

Unreal. When my daughter was born every breastfeeding mother was given a beer in the hospital. Whoever called is a complete idiot and the DCFS aren't far behind for even investigating. They should have known this was a normal and medically encouraged practice.

They could have wrapped it up at the hospital. They just wanted to see her luxurious house.

The hospital worker gave her bad advice! The alcohol is bad for the babies. The hospital worker should have been reported and a doctor called to correct the bad advice. And I'm sure the hospital worker told her to drink one beer a day; so, there is reason for concern. I'm glad she isn't my mom or wife. That's just dumb.

I hope the person who anonymously 'tipped off authorities' is proud of themselves. Pretty despicable. If they had an issue with it, why didn't they just bring it up with their superiors, rather than causing brand new parents a worldwide embarrassment & headache over nothing? I bet they wouldn't have bothered if the new mother was a nobody. It's just such a low act. Bad form.

Now she's free to go back to her normal drugs without the watchful eye of CPS.

Unbelievable...it's been widely reported forever that drinking ONE beer aids breastfeeding women..doctors actually tell you the same thing. And, hospitals give out two percocets every 4 hours after childbirth so, where's the problem here? the first comment was right--while this time and money are being spent on nothing, a real crime against a child is being committed.

More like some conniving "opportunist" who wanted to make a "quick" buck! If there was a problem with Mariah having a beer, the matter should have been referred to the supervising RN on duty. In retrospect, Mariah should have asked her doctor's opinion before she decided to have that beer but she probably really wanted one after having to abstain from alcohol during her pregnancy. Under the cir***stances, a follow up visit was necessary to ensure her competency as a parent. No one wants to be responsible when complaints are ignored and children are harmed.
