NFL Legend Warrick Dunn -- I'm No Gun Runner!

5/27/2011 11:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Former Atlanta Falcons running back Warrick Dunn says he feels "violated" -- after cops pulled him over outside ATL and told him he had the characteristics of someone "transporting drugs and guns."

36-year-old Dunn says cops told him they pulled him over because his tinted windows were "too dark" ... but Dunn insinuates he was racially profiled.

During the stop, Dunn -- who is black -- says 4 white officers targeted him with "a lot of personal questions" and told him "I had the characteristics of people transporting drugs & guns."

Dunn says the cops searched his car and gave him a warning for the tint.

After the incident, the 3-time Pro Bowler went to his Facebook page and said, "Felt violated and I've had my car since '08, nvr been pulled ovr for tint. Taken back bc I think the reasoning was bad. Ruined my day but not my spirit."

UPDATE: Dunn's rep tells us Warrick was frustrated after the incident -- and after cops explained that he was traveling through a high-crime area ... he understood the officers were just trying to do their job.

Warrick, through his rep, tells TMZ ... "As the son of a hard working police officer, I understand the stress that police officers are under."

Dunn adds, "The real lesson in all this is that Twitter is a powerful tool but what happened to me is the same thing that  happens to a lot of people every day. I’ll take care of it through the appropriate channels just like everyone else has to."

Mr. Dunn builds homes for the needy, and he is one of the most decent people in sports. His mother was a police officer too.She was killed in the line of duty.

If this DUMMY DUNN spent more time learning the law instead of feeling sorry for himself because he's black then he would know that looking into a vehicle for any illegal objects in PLAIN SIGHT does not constitute "they searched my car".

Just because RACIST CARD CARRYING MEMBER DUNN says his car was searched does NOT mean that is what happened.

NFL legend? Give me a break.

BTW, to all the people that want to keep pulling the race card: the cops today are looking to ticket or to arrest you for anything! It doesn't matter what your skin color is. They want job security and pay raises in this weak economy and they secure it by ticketing and arresting as many people as they can to bring money into the city/county.

And I guarantee you if Warrick Dunn wasn't famous then he would have been ticketed for his tinted windows. So, he's bitching about being pulled over when he actually got a free pass!!!

Its the questions he was asked that makes it seemingly racist. And some of you guys are a trip - as if saying 'playing the race card' automatically means there's no such thing as racism or racial profiling or (that old chesnut) that somebody is 'whining.' Guess what? You don't know what you're talking about because you haven't walked in those shoes. I'm sure that's hard to understand for a group of people who think they know everything there is to know about everything. Dummies.

Leader of the ignorant masses

I do not know if it was profiling or not. But that is besides the point when it comes to tinted windows. There is a very good reason why tinted windows are a issue. And people who insist on doing it will always give police a reason to pull them over. The fact is that tinted windows pose a danger to police officers. If you really want to blame anyone about that do not blame officers who are concerned for their safety, blame the criminals out there. Regardless of how you feel about police, they risk their lives every day for your safety. And it only takes one time in your life when your own safety is in danger and an officer comes to your rescue to realize that. It is unfortunate that the bad things some officers do overshadow the many who really are heroes. But name one organization that does not have its share of bad apples, from priests to teachers there are always some that give the rest a bad name. It is a real shame that we focus on the worst society has to offer and not see those who serve and protect. And i am a minority male who is a prime target and yet i do not have problems. Because i am not a criminal nor have a i ever been one and i treat officers with respect. Instead of running to the race card and giving attitude maybe let an officer know you understand they are doing their job and cooperate.

To all of you being mean on here. His mother was a police officer who was killed in the line of duty in Baton Rouge, LA when he was in high school. I am from Baton Rouge and remember when this happened. Of course he is going to be upset when he feels he is being done wrong by a police officer. His mother gave her life. He is a great guy who gives back to where he came from and in Atlanta now.

And the sad part is he probably has more respect for law enforcement than any athlete you’ll meet considering HIS MOTHER WAS A POLICE OFFICER THAT WAS KILLED IN THE LINE ON DUTY.
