Rihanna -- I'm a Rockstar, NOT A PARENT!!!

6/2/2011 10:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Rihanna is lashing back at the people criticizing her violent new music video for "Man Down" -- scoffing at the notion she's a role model ... saying, "What's up with everybody wantin me to be a parent?"

RiRi went to her Twitter page today after the Parents Television Council condemned the "Man Down" video for depicting a premeditated murder and implying killing someone is an acceptable form of revenge.

Rihanna tweeted, "I'm a 23 year old rockstar with NO KIDS! What's up with everybody wantin me to be a parent? I'm just a girl, I can only be your/our voice!"

She continued, "We have the freedom to make art, LET US! Its your job to make sure they dont turn out like US."

"U can't hide your kids from society, or they'll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD."

Rhianna's an idiot if she thinks she's coming out if this situation as the good guy. She's trying to start some stupid rebeling thing now? I hope she disappears, she never had any talent. LEAVE PLEASE!!!

This "girl" is in desperate need of better management. She's bone stupid and keeps doing the exact worst things that will guarantee she stays in the ghetto for the rest of her life. Think of where her career could be if she had a brain or listened to people who know what they're doing. I'm sure I'm not the only person who lost it for her when she got that gun tattoo.

No Rihanna you're a manufactured media "star". Rock stars, are Paul Simon, Aretha Frankly, James Taylor, the Beatles...

They have talent... they are rock stars... you are sh*t. Your claim to infamy is just being vulgar... and vulgar sells... or is sold to the public and called "music"

I know you needed some clarification and there you have it.

Now disappear.

a better argument would be, "HEY! IT'S A VIDEO! i WAS ACTING!!! THIS HAPPENDS ALL THE TIME!!!!" And, she never claimed to be a role model nor does she want to.

I get the "point" that celebrities have always made about that, but it's arrogant and unaccountable. in my opinion.

Funny how this broad tries to remain relevant. Yo, show more of your T&A, only things anyone wants out of you anyway.

Actually, she's also not a "rockstar". She's a middling pop singer and a celebrity.

It's true that she is no parent, and maybe not even a role model (that's for damn sure at this point), but having been through hell and back in the past year and a half or so I would have expected her to mature by now. She's 23 years old and has the mind of a 15 yr old. Grow up already.

Didn't she say before the reason she left Chris Brown was more because her fans look up to her and consider her a role model? She didn't want them to continue in abusive relationships in case they were put in a situation and that was how she knew she had to get out...

P.S. Rock Star? Really? All of these celebs need a reality check!

If you are in the public eye by choice then you should consider yourself a role model. I agree that parents should be responsible for what their kids are watching, listening to, etc. but Rhianna is also a role model and she should think about the message that video is sending. I have watched the video and agree that it glorifies the idea of taking revenge & killing another human being for the wrongs they did to you.

Dear Parents: Rhianna is not your children's parent > you are! So the best thing you can do is not allow your children to buy her cds/music, concert tickets, posters, etc. if you don't agree with the message that she is promoting. This could be a wonderful chance for you to open up a conversation with your children about how celebrities are only human and should not always be looked to as role models because they are famous > Role models should be people who promote good/positive things.
