Jesse James Pays Up After Bloody Dog Attack

6/8/2011 4:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

A pitbull belonging to Jesse James escaped from the reality star's Texas bike shop this weekend and
attacked another dog being walked in the area -- nearly killing the innocent animal ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ spoke with a rep from Animal Control in Austin, TX -- who confirms cops were dispatched to the scene after Jesse's dog -- not Cinnabun -- went after a corgi named Buckley and chomped down on his neck.

We're told the person walking Buckley freaked out -- and began punching the pit bull in the face because it wouldn't let go of the corgi.

Eventually, cops arrived to the scene and freed Buckley -- who was rushed to a nearby vet for emergency care. Buckley had to be sedated and stitched up -- and doctors inserted a drainage tube into his neck to prevent infection.

After the incident, Buckley's owner got in touch with Jesse's assistant -- who eventually forked over $250 to cover the vet bill. We're told Jesse has also promised to cover any additional medical expenses.

Lets see how committed pitt owners would be if they had to pay a ten thousand dollar per dog license. Owning one of these useless dogs is a status symbol, plain, simple.

My best wishes to Buckley and his owner to fully recuperate.

I agree, that lsr poc jesse james should be held legally responsible, charged to the full extent of the law and compensate the owner very generously. the dog should be put down it's a menace!

How many of Jessie James' odgs are going to get loose before he realizes he shouldn't own a dog? Aside from the facty that these dogs could be hit by a car but nnow they are attacking other animals. Do we need to wait until a child gets injured or worse by one of his animals? Jessie, put a fence around your property or give them to someone who will take better care of them!

Um hello, he did put a fence in after moving to Austin and that was before bringing his pits there to live with him.

It didn't work.

People who own pit bulls must be so stupid they don't realize the image they project by having one is PATHETIC LOSER.

@CEE. White trash is a state of mind, honey. You just don't realize what most people are thinking about you even if they don't say it. It's just a fact that most people are disgusted with pit bulls and their owners.

Just a thought. What if that was a child. I think NO one should own a pitbull. People make excuses for those dogs all the time. Jesse' other pitbull has gotten out several times in Californina where it has made the news. And they say don't worry he won't hurt anyone. Where is he to take care of the dogs? Why have them if he or his people can't control or take care of them where they won't get out. With his money you would think he would keep them on his property. What a guy!!!!

While I think it's wonderful that people rescue pit bulls who have been both bred and trained to fight or who have been otherwise abused, this dog needs to be put down. Please notice that I said DOG, not PIT BULL. Any dog that attacks another dog unprovoked (or appears to be)is a dangerous dog. A child could be next.

Tragically, some of these rescue pitts have been abused for so long that the only chocie is to put them down for the safety of others. It's not the fault of the rescuer. It's the fault of the dog-fighting breeders (in the case of pit bulls). That's why it's illeagal. It's why society puts people like Michael Vick in jail.

Insurence companys need to raise the premiums so high on pit owners they can't afford home owner's insurence with one of those things in their yard.

I'm an adjuster for an insurance company and my company wont even insure if you have a pitbull, if they lie and file a claim and we go out and see one we have to report it and they cancel the policy. My company isn't the only one either, and I'm talking about big name companies.

being Texas, I'm surprised Buckley's owner or the cops didn't just shoot the pit bull on the spot...

and $250 is an amazing price, I wonder if the vet gave Buckley's owner a good price because she was a victim, not knowing that the pit bull's owner would be paying... hopefully it is more an indication that the injuries were relatively minor...
