Anti-Pitbull Activist -- Jesse James' Dog Should Die

6/10/2011 5:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

One of Texas' most outspoken anti-pitbull advocates is lashing out at Jesse James' dog -- after it nearly killed another pooch last weekend -- telling TMZ, Jesse's pit "should be put down without exception."

As we previously reported, one of Jesse's pitbulls escaped his bike shop in Texas and attacked another dog (below) ... which then had to be rushed to a nearby vet for emergency care.

Douglas Wolfe -- one of the leading advocates for banning pitbulls across the state of Texas -- tells us, "This attack shows that even seemingly responsible owners with the means to manage and care for their animals cannot control this unpredictable and inherently dangerous type of dog."

Wolfe adds, "Any animal that attacks and kills or injures another animal or a person should be put down without exception and tested for rabies regardless of who or what the owner is."

"No animal's life is worth the life of any person."

Pitbull ownership is a VERY heated issue in Texas right now, where Douglas and other activists have proposed a bill to ban pits throughout the state.

Ah... out come all the standard retards that claim they have "good dogs" and they're platinum owners, blah blah blah. Your need to prove your strange sense of dog owner superiority puts others at risk.

You and your status symbol dogs can go get stuffed.

Joey said: There is an arrogant & pervasive attitude among people, who truly believe they have complete control over whatever animal they deal with and it will never turn on them.

Exactly. These people get a strange sense of self superiority because they think they are being successful at something others aren't. eg: the argument of good vs bad pitt owners.

It's all bullsh.t. The dog in the hands of MOST,... almost ALL people, is a dangerous combination of arrogance and classic STUPIDITY.

Heres some of the article....
In temperance tests (the equivalent of how many times your kid can poke your dog in the eye before it bites him) of all breeds the most tolerant was the Golden Retriever. The second most tolerant was the pit bull.
Pit Bull’s jaws do not lock, they do not have the most powerful bite among dogs (Rottweilers have that honor) they are not naturally human aggressive (in fact pit bull puppies prefer human company to their mother’s two weeks before all other dogs).
It is NOT the breed it is the owners who raise them. Your experience is NOT everyone's and should not be shoved others throats. I do think there should be a way to "manage" responsible dog ownership, I don't think every person should be allowed to own a dog...ANY dog! All dogs bite but Lhasa Apso bites man doesn't make headlines!

This guy is nothing but a attention whore. Like he really will succed in banning pits across the entire state. Just like the banning of all drugs and illegal aliens has really stopped them from entering texas.

Pitbulls are banned where I live and it is a great idea. if you allready had a pitbull before the law was passed, the dog is to wear a muzzle when in public. They are a vicious breed and it is not unreasonable to ban something this dangerous that puts the public at risk.

God, I can scarcely believe the ignorance I am seeing concerning pit bulls. Aggression is, by and large, not a personality trait, but a LEARNED BEHAVIOR. Any breed of dog can be a killing machine given the "right" upbringing. Yes, aggression is prevalent in SOME pit bulls, from a biological source, because they have been bred for so long to specifically be aggressive. Fortunately, however, many rational and humane breeders are choosing better sires for their litters, that is to say, less dominant and aggressive males, to father purebred pit bulls. This is an attempt to remove the aggressive tendencies that MAY be partially at fault for the terrible reputation of these animals.

To say they are just inherently bad animals is completely untrue and ridiculous. One cannot call for the total annihilation of a breed of dog simply because one in many many thousands is ill-bred, abused, or both. I challenge anyone to look up the statistics on breeds of dogs and dog attacks, and tell me there is some solid evidence suggesting pit bulls are a dangerous anomaly.

Treat an animal humanely, with love and leadership, and you will reap the rewards of a loving animal.

I have read and heard of people who have had pit bulls from puppies, in loving homes, and they will turn on you for no apparant reason. A woman in Florida had 2 from birth, she was a senior woman. She was putting out the trash one day and for no reason they both attacked and killed her. I love dogs, but I do believe there is something in this line that is not normal. Like a mental illness in a human. I would put the dog down and I do agree with banning them. They are to unstable of a dog to bring into a family home, where there are children etc.

Snoogs, you claim we're ignorant: BUT then you go on to say this:

Yes, aggression is prevalent in SOME pit bulls, from a biological source, because they have been bred for so long to specifically be aggressive.

You've killed your own argument.

Pitts have been so interbred for violence it will take far more than a few years to out breed the trait. The trait there not only in pure bred, but in pitt/xx mixed breeds. Ban the breed and be done with it.

wasnt there this big thing on rotties, germen shepards and dobermans a few years back? i don't understand how ppl can blame a breed. Any dog no matter what breed can attack for no reason.
I own a Rottie and hes the sweetest loving dog i've EVER had!!
as long as you get your dog as a puppy and train love and care for it PROPERLY the dog will be fine.. and for the higher risk dogs like pitt bulls if they are taken for walks they should have a muzzzle and leash on at all times and if you dont have a fenced in yard they should be tied up and kept an eye on no matter what just to be safe.(even if you do have a fenced yard still keep an eye on the dog) i live in Ontario,Canada and pitt bulls are banned, the only way you can have one is if you get a license to own one and like i said needs to be leashed and muzzled when out in public. ppl just need to shut it about pitt bulls being so dangerous like i read in a bunch of posts already its all in how they r trained, treated and cared for. any dog can attack for no reason at all.

About twenty years ago these types of stories were written about Doberman Pinchers. There was a big move to get rid of the breed because they were dangerous. Now it is the Pit Bulls. OH, and in between the outrage of the Pinchers and Pit Bulls there was the old stand by, German Shepherd.

When has Jesse James' ever been accused of being a responsible ANYTHING, let alone a responsible dog owner??? His poor dog never stood a chance having an owner like him and as a result may need to be destroyed (and no, I do not profile animals and know pits can make wonderful pets - with the right owners in the right environment).
