Super Bowl Hero: Gay Marriage Will Lead to 'Anarchy'

6/16/2011 6:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Ex-NY Giants receiver David Tyree -- who made the LEGENDARY helmet catch in Super Bowl XLII -- is coming out against gay marriage HARD ... claiming it's the first step on the road to "ANARCHY."061511_david_tyree_still

Tyree made the statements during an interview earlier today with the National Organization for Marriage -- a faith-based anti-gay marriage group.

During the interview, Tyree is asked about the push to legalize gay marriage in the United States -- and says if it happens, "This will be the beginning of our country sliding toward ... it's a strong word, but anarchy."

0615_David_Tyree_GETTY
To reinforce his point, Tyree says, "You can't teach something that you don't have ... so two men will never be able to show a woman how to be a woman."

And the kicker, Tyree -- who's black -- says, "How can marriage be marriage for thousands of years and now all the sudden because a minority, an influential minority, has a push or agenda ... and totally reshapes something that was not founded in our country."

FYI -- Tyree's statement comes almost 44 years to the day after interracial marriage was legalized in the United States ... thanks, in part, to the agenda of an influential minority.

David Tyree is 100% RIGHT. Do we vilify a gay man for saying a heterosexual lifestyle is wrong? Of course not - that would be bigotry. We can NO LONGER speak up in this country, or disagree with someone or something without immediately being called a bigot or racist. Our country is falling apart - and we're wondering why. Look around us. Anything goes now, and it coincides with the social agendas being forced down our throats.

Classy. I am so glad he is staying true to his minority roots. Oh wait...

Ed Ed

Now he will get slammed for saying something he believes in. I applaud him for taking a stand against immorality.

Uh, weren't blacks an influential minority not long ago? I remember people saying the same thing about civil rights of African Americans. He sounds like a rich white guy 50 years ago.

Updog Updog

If marriage is so sacred then we should outlaw divorce.

Nick Benson Sr Nick Benson Sr

Good going Tyree!! Finally someone to stand up for what is right! Real men stand up for what they believe in and don't apologize like the wimps Kobe and Obama! Tyree, you are awesome!

MeMe MeMe

It's wonderful to see such an influential man standing up for what he believes in. We need more like him!

TheMarshmallowMan TheMarshmallowMan

Why does anyone care who someone marries, grow the f up. The strongest empires (greek and rome) embraced homosexuality and only faltered when Christianity took over. Maybe he should pick up a history book.

Phil Alger Phil Alger

Lets get real! It's wrong all you all know it! Marriage is between a woman & a man! Now how would you multiple any other way! Please don't be so stupid to say a surrogate, that just enforces what I said!

Little Lord Rivas Little Lord Rivas

Strong words for a guy who catches balls in his face.

Bee Bee

I applaud this young man for speaking up.

lizzimmer lizzimmer

David Tyree was raised by a single mother and has 2 sisters. Yet SOMEHOW he managed to "learn to be a man". Sort of flies in the face of his asinine logic, no?

Pretty dangerous territory to ask the federal government to give you rights. It assumes they hold those rights to give (and take away) as they please. They do not.
God gave gays the right to love and betrothe who they please, no government can give them that right. It is in***bent upon the gay community to lobby to their state legislative bodies if they feel their inherent rights are being infringed. It is also the right of those who feel that gay marriage is abnormal to lobby that same government. It's called democracy and it happens at the state level. Just because you don't always win the fight does not mean the next logical step is to make a deal with the devil.
A note of caution to beware what you ask for from the fed. What they give, they can and certainly will take away. You want to let them own you like that?
They could take away minority rights if they had the vote to repeal those Amendments, but they do not have the vote, will not have the vote. However, to compare the right o*****ay American to get married (though they already have the same legal rights as married couples via contract law) to the right of a black American to get an education, eat in a restaurant, go to school or utilize the justice system to protect themselves from violence is not even close to a real analogy.
The federal governemnt has no place in my heterosexual marriage and no place in a gay marriage. Period.

People like this think people will be deciding to go gay like crazy if the law is changed. The reality is it will be like being a porn star or stripper now. It would be legal but generally not socially accepted lifestyle.

I have an "INVESTMENT" tip I'd like to share with the masses, buy several bibles today and put them away for your kids, kids, kids, they will become like "original" Beatles albums in worth!

GLAAD will demand they are re-written in the not to distant future!

@OhWell

Why are you so intolerant of gay people? Just because they are different from you doesn't mean they are any less worthy as a person. Are you afraid some of their gayness will rub off on you? LOL Seriously it's not something you can catch! Are you racist as well? I bet the list goes on and on for you since you're so ignorant with your post about wanting them all to move out of the USA.

This man is entitled to his opinion -- as misguided as it might be. But consider that the same book that calls being gay an abomination also endorses slavery, including sex slaves (Leviticus 25:44-46)and polygamy many instances, start with Abraham). Kahhleefornia -- you are just plain wrong for using that word and a disgrace to California. I get so incredibly tired of all of the Biblical rhetoric. People can construe the bible to fit their prejudice. While some laws may have made sense back then, they may no longer make sense (like slavery). I heard one minister ask the question, "How many gay people must God give us before we realize that he wants and loves them." Maybe some day when he truly knows God, he will see the light.

I am glad Tyree spoke out and he has the right to freedom of speech. The gay marriage people are bullies if you disagree with them.

Everybody know homosexuality is condemned in the Old Testament.

In the United States gays and lesbians can legally marry in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Vermont, and Washington, DC. Oh the anarchy in those states, how on Earth are we going to deal with those trouble makers?! We should force them to secede from the rest of the 'pure' country.

I will not be listening to a man who wore spandex pants, smacked other men on the ass and wa***** in the head for a living. He is a douche, much like many other douches who live in this country.

Richard Ramirez "The Night Stalker" got married while sitting on death row. However, two law abiding adult men can't have the same right because it's sacred? What's wrong with this picture?

Gay marriage has been legal in many other countries for years. Do you see anarchy happening there?

Who the hell cares if two guys or two chicks get married? It's none of your business what other people do with their life. How would allowing two people of the same sex to get married cause "anarchy"? I mean seriously? Marriage isn't sacred anymore people! That's why over 50% of marriages in the US end in divorce. If gay people want to get married, more power to them. It's just a shame that so many people choose to judge others based on a book (the bible) written by people who thought the earth was flat.

Also, who the f*ck would ask for this ********* opinion on something like this anyways? So he knows how to catch a football, so what? That doesn't mean he knows what he's talking about in regards to gay marriage. The ignorance of some people is astonishing.
