Gay Rights Org. Calls Malarkey on 'Anarchy' Claim

6/16/2011 8:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

A powerful gay rights organization claims Super Bowl hero David Tyree is wrong -- legalizing gay marriage will NOT send our country into a state of "anarchy" ... and there's proof all over the world.

A rep for the Human Rights Campaign tells TMZ ... "Anarchy? Hardly. Committed gay and lesbian couples have been able to legally marry in five states and the District of Columbia — not to mention a number of foreign countries — for years now and cows are still giving milk, little boys are still pulling little girls’ pig tails, and we still drive on the right side of the street."

The rep adds, "New York’s passage of this law will result in nothing more than a more just and equitable society."

Jarret Barrios -- President of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation -- ain't holding back either, telling us, "Tyree’s statements are as misleading as they are ridiculous, and do not accurately reflect the growing acceptance that we're seeing from sports stars like Charles Barkley, Steve Nash, Sean Avery, Brendon Ayanbadejo, Scott Fujita and fellow former Giant Michael Strahan."

061611_david_tyree_videoAs TMZ previously reported ... the former NY Giants star took a very hard line against gay marriage during an interview yesterday with a faith-based organization called the National Organization for Marriage.

I wouldn't agree with any name calling of ANY kind. That should have been learned in grade school ;) but having an opinion is something quite different. It's the pot calling the kettle black here. Have the same respect that you are seeking. Geesh.

"the Human Rights Campaign"...LOL....what is human about these homo freaks using their bodies in ways that it's not equipped to be used. All major religions condemn their perversity but for some strange reason they want their unions legalized in the form of marriage which historically is religious in nature. Check with the people who are not sexual deviants living in those countries that have legalized these freaks getting together, they'll tell you it's a slippery road to hell so don't give in to these deviant groups in the first place. DAVID TYREE SPOKE THE TRUTH and these freaks can't handle the truth.

Shady, I'm not talking about being bullied - I'm talking about being stoned to death or executed by the state. Seven countries have the death penalty for homosexuality and the kind of hate that is spewed on this message board is exactly why the world is like this.

Being gay is not a choice and it has nothing to do with beastiality or pedophilia - these are just rhetorical tools that people without legitimate arguments use because the idea of them are so vile it makes it easier for people to justify their hate of gay people rather than empathize with them. Legalizing gay marriage will do nothing to the lives of straight people, so why do you all care so much about denying us this right?

Professional sports players should just stick with what they know.

Almost every time they venture into politics they come out looking like buffoons.

St. James - that's a mighty easy challenge:
1. Not allowed to serve openly in the Military
2. Not allowed to have joint custody of your child with your partner
3. Not considered to have next of kin status in a hospital
4. Not eligible for Social Security benefits
5. Not eligible to apply for a Green Card for a partner who is not a citizen
6. Not allowd to file bancruptcy proceedings together
7. Not covered under family health insurance plans
8. Not allowed to file joint taxes
9. Not allowed to adopt in many states
10. Don't have imunity to testify against your partner in legal proceedings

Oh and NOT ALLOWED TO GET MARRIED!

and this is just off the top of my head, I know there are many more.

This is one of the first meaningful, socially conscious articles I have ever seen TMZ publish. Is it becuase a large majority of the staff is gay?

Ok Somebody said Gay's don't have the same rights as Straight. Let's see you name 10 Distinctive rights straight people have that gay people don't.

aaaaaannnnnnnddd GO!

I see that Billy has already met this challenge.

However, I would like to point out to you that gays do not have the same rights as straights if there is only one item on the list.

Do you think it is OK that gays do not have the same rights as straights?

Hey Trapped...

I wrote he had the right. I was pointing out there is no such thing as TRUELY "free speech." People ALSO have the right to object to what he said.

Learn to read.

HELP! America is drowning in a sea of IDIOTS!

Anarchy?? Really? When there are SO many examples of countries that legalized gay marriage has not changed anything.
Is Canada in 'anarchy'??, Argentina? Mexico? Spain? Netherlands?

And of course he has the rights to his opinion. It is just disheartening when that opinion only shows how unintelligent he actually is. They are countless examples that already exist proving him wrong in facts, but still valid in opinion.

Stand by what you said David. We support you. Someday all the gays will see Jesus and know that they were wrong. Don't let anyone bully you into an apology. God wants us all to stand firm against these types of things.

This is the biggest crock of sh*t I have ever read! I happen to live in a country where gay people are allowed to get married. There has been no slippery road to hell happening at all. Them being allowed to marry has not affected anything here ..at ALL!!! Maybe you could enlighten me by telling me what this slippery road to hell lead to?

Anyone who is against Gay marriage but not against heterosexual divorce is crazy. The main thing doing harm to families currently is divorce, which is specifically spoken out against by Jesus in the Bible. Nowhere does Jesus say anything about gays or gay marriage but he is very clear about divorce.
