Republican Senator: 'F**k It,' Gays Should Marry

6/17/2011 11:24 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Republican New York State Senator Roy McDonald has SHATTERED party lines in support of gay marriage -- telling reporters, "F**k it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing."

0617_roy_mcdonald_bn

The battle rages on in New York to legalize gay marriage -- but McDonald threw his hat in the ring earlier this week ... with the greatest statement of all time, claiming, "You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn't black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing."

"You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, f**k it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing."

"I'm tired of Republican-Democrat politics. They can take the job and shove it. I come from a blue-collar background. I'm trying to do the right thing, and that's where I'm going with this."

With McDonald's support, the gay marriage bill is only ONE vote shy of being made into law -- which would make New York the sixth state to legalize gay marriage.

Good for him!!! His constituents should be proud to have a man like him representing them. It's refreshing to see someone who votes their own convictions and not the party line.

Mr. Clean Mr. Clean

Yes! "F*** it, do the right thing" Words to live by!

The more America continues to turn away from God and his teachings; we will continue in a downward spiral. We are slowly elimintating God from our country, and look at how we are declining as a nation.

Horrible of him to give up on his morals. He lost himself to being pushed around and bullied into a decision he is clearly not satisfied in making.

i'm telling you, all the men/ all the males, are gonna be trying to abolish this right to marry with lots of force, once they see how many women are going to marry another woman. they're gonna start shooting themselves in the damn foot, because they were so down with it in the beginning. i bet!!

In this world today, I would consider this a non issue in comparison to other things going on. Really marriage should not involve the government anyway. It should be vows between two people that comes from the heart.

....Republican New York State Senator Roy McDonald , has come out pro-gay, not because he agrees with the gay lifestyle, but because he is one of the few Republican leaders that has come to realize that if republicans continue with their ant-gay stance, they will never again occupy the Oval Office.

Many have come to the realization that gays themselves may indeed be the minority. however, when added the gay-friendlies, such as family, friends, and general gay-friendly populous, gays become a majority voting sector.

All will see more and more Republican party constituents abandoning their anti-gay positions, and adopting pro-gay postures, but not because republicans have all the sudden fallen in love with the whole gay-lifestyle core issues, but because republicans are beginning to learn that gays, and more importantly gay-friendlies in totality, carry a walloping majority voting punch.

And as for Republicans in general----wolves in sheep's clothing, are nonetheless wolves....Artofwar

Mr. McDonald, you are a tremendous man! I am pleasantly surprised at the way you are handling this. You made my day! Please continue to work for the people and not for your party. Gay marriage is not my cup of tea, but I want them to have the same rights that straight people do. Who cares if they want to be married. I say, let 'em!

YOU ROCK ROY! :o)

Its nice to see someone thinking forward and doing the right thing in the republican party.

History won't be kind to unenlightened people hanging onto the status quo for "moral" or ambiguos "social" reasons.....it never is.

How do the people who defended the ban of interracial marriage look today?? The arguments were the same back then.

Good for him for being a free thinking person and not toeing his party's line. And I say that as someone who can see both sides of the gay marriage issue and think each side has the right to their opinion. Personally, I don't believe in political parties. I think everyone should be independent.

The homophobic heterosexuals out there need to mind their own business. They can marry and divorce 50 times in a row so why they don't want other people to get married just because these people are gay? The homophobic heterosexuals always talk about morals. Well they should keep morals in their pockets and go to Heaven. Let the gays live happy and free in this country.

What a stupid comment. I guess the same could be said of Democrats. How many have a "mind of (their) own"? Both parties are like organized religion - you can't possibly agree with ALL of their beliefs, IMO.

I vote Republican mostly, but completely support gay marriage and gay rights.

Kathy is just a close-minded dumb axx.

It's funny how republicans say that this is a moral issue. If it weren't for their morals, they would all engage in homosexual acts? People are either gay or not gay and everyone should have the same right to marry the partner of their choosing regardless of orientation.

"Blue-collar = gay-rights? Since when? It's more likely someone has some of his twitters to his boy-toy they are holding over his head as blackmail."

Nope! There are many conservatives out there that are leaving the republican party over this issue and others. Many conservatives are conservative to the constitution. Being a Tea Partier, I don't care about social issues. Plus, it says right there in the constitution that you have equal rights. It doesn't say, "Unless you're gay." Don't hate conservatives for being conservatives. True conservatives would be completely for gay marriage....it's in the constitution, and thus it should be. Republicans mix religion and politics too much. We all know how that usually turns out. Don't hate Tea Partiers because the media says so. Hate the Tea Partiers for cutting your spending and lessen the government's role. Now that criticism I can live with.

If you take time to read and stop associating gays and color, you will notice that there were actually a few people who said that gays should do whatever they want. The problem came when Gladd started trying to make everyone look like an ass and laughing when pockets were hit.

Those that did not give a flying f about if gays marry will now be more vocal about the wrongs, because of your short lived victory dance. Swing yo partners yeaaaaa....f idiots.
