Ryan Dunn

Crashed at 130 MPH

6/21/2011 4:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Ryan Dunn was doing 130 miles-per-hour in his Porsche at the time of the horrible crash that killed the "Jackass" star and his passenger -- this according to West Goshen police.

Police Chief Michael Carroll told reporters an accident reconstruction team determined the speed of the crash after inspecting the accident scene. Officials say Dunn's car collided with a guardrail at high speed, crashed in the woods and burst into flames.

According to Carroll, the crash was catastrophic -- claiming he's "never seen a car destroyed in an automobile accident the way this car was ... even before it caught on fire."

Carroll called the accident the "worst" he's ever seen ... by far.

The worst damage Bam may have done with his rant is to the Jackass franchise itself.
I like Johnny and Steve-O and have enjoyed watching their antics. Part of what makes it appealing is a sort of child like innocence and disregard for their own safety in the quest of some laughs. Will they still be seen in the same light after this tragedy?

What a jackass...

Let's not pretend that this is "sad" or "tragic". He got wasted and drove too fast. He was asking for it. Period.

I hope the family of Zachary Hartwell sue the estate of Ryan since he was the one who killed him.

If your driving in an area with a "high probability of deer running across the highway", then it's probably not a good idea to be driving 130mph... on a curvy road... in the dark... after drinking.

Just sayin'

Chris less than a minute ago

Why havent we seen one rule of a potential deer running across the highway and him swerving? That honestly could be a high probabilty in the area of PA oh where he was.

I wonder what people here will say if it comes out in 4 weeks that Dunn was not drunk.

wow 130 does it really matter drunk or not this guy was a continous threat on public roads so glad he's no longer behind a wheel he was not mature enough to have that privilege. I don't want to have to fear for my life driving down the dam street. this guy was wealthy and could have easily called a cab, i can hear it now "dude i drive better drunk". TMZ do some investigating how many prior speeding tickets?

Isn't it funny how we iconicized James Dean for EXACTLY the same thing, but Ryan Dunn deserves to be lambasted? It's a tragedy, no one deserves to die. As for you Holier-Than-Thou ****mongers, take the Twinky out of your mouth, and your head out of your ass . . . you're just as much a risk everytime you get out on the road, heart-attack deaths while driving kill innocent people just as much as other vices.

"Carroll called the accident the "worst" he's ever seen ... by far."

Not for nothing, but for a guy that did stunts for a living, that's an awesome way to go. Rock on dude...

The second set of skid marks is definitely there in the fast lane as is being shown clearly in the UK media pictures. The skid marks of Dunn's Porsche is shown running along the slow lane going straight past a right exit from the freeway into the trees.Maybe Dunn was trying to make that right turn but I don't think anyone would seriously try to at the speed he was going.
I would speculate that a car in the fast lane missed that right turn and slammed on the breaks hoping to back up a bit and still make the exit.Dunn would have been driving in the fast lane and seeing a car stopped in front of him he tried to overtake on the right of it.He didn't make it obviously. The other car drove off after the driver realized that a serious accident had occurred due to his own dangerous maneuver, even though they probably never even saw the Porsche coming up behind them at that speed. That is probably speculation enough and thinking that it was a Police car is a bit far fetched as they would have surely stopped to give assistance. If I were an investigator though, I would be looking for that second car although there is nothing more than the second set of skid marks to go on, so finding the driver might be next to impossible.

The reality is he is dead because he drank heavily and got behind the wheel of a car and killed his friend too. 130 mph, no one would be driving at that rate of speed, at that time of night in that area, if they were not drunk. He obviously lived his life very stupidly and had friends who did the same because not one of them hanging with him that night saw nothing wrong with him getting behind the wheel of a car in the condition he was in. He was stupid and unfortunately his life ended so tragically. Glad that no other innocent life was taken along with theirs. It is a sad world we live in when this kind of behavior that ended this way is looked at as being cool. JACKASSES!!

That is the dumbest thing I've heard about this so far. If there were a f*@king deer in the road, at 130mph he would never have seen it, so he would not have swerved. You must like to speed while drunk, why else come up with such a stupid excuse?
