Cops: Ryan Dunn Was VERY DRUNK During Crash

6/22/2011 10:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn was extremely intoxicated at the time of his fatal crash Monday morning ... with a blood alcohol level of more than TWICE the legal limit ... this according to cops.

West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll told the Daily Local News ... Dunn's B.A.C. was .196 ... nearly two-and-a-half times the legal limit in Pennsylvania, which is .08.

Carroll added, "No other substances were found in his blood other than the alcohol."

As TMZ reported, Dunn and his passenger were killed when Dunn lost control of his Porsche, crashed in a wooded area and his car exploded in flames.

UPDATE: Now cops are saying Dunn was traveling between 132 and 140 MPH at the time of his crash.

It's sad to hear about anyone dying in a car wreck, let alone one that involves alcohol. His fate was sealed the moment he rolled the dice and got behind the wheel after a night of drinking. People see and hear about this sort of thing everyday and yet they fail to use their best judgement. Should we feel bad for him? Yes and no. Yes because he lost his LIFE! No, because he lost his life AND someone else's as well. Just depends on how you personally feel. I wish he could've made the smarter decision and called a cab. My sympathies go out to everyone around him, his family and friends, and to anyone who was in his life.

This was no tragedy so stop calling it that. And it was no accident either. When you drive so recklessly, and so DRUNK, you're just asking for it. What a moron.

The moral of the story for all young adults should be;

Live Like A Jackass, Die Like A Jackass!

Famous to infamous in the blink of an eye....and it was from a SERIES of bad choices that led to this fated outcome. Some of us are sacrificial lambs in life meant to educate others. He may have directly taken someones life, but I wonder how many more were & are maimed by copying these "jackass" stunts. He saw himself as invincible.....and played his "part" in this life to perfection

Arnie 3 minutes ago Too much vehicle for a drunk person who does not know how to handle it. Although a terrible tragedy, Dunn exits life a disgrace.
Too bad there was a passenger. At least he was not in a crowded area. Maybe if he would have been at a hash bar, he would have been driving that thing @ 30 mph.

Why do people have compassion for an individual who made a conscious decision to over indulge himself in Alcohol ( 2 in a half times over the limit ??? ) get into a motor vehicle that has been built specifically for SPEED and drive that motor vehicle with a " friend " at a EXTREMELY dangerous high rate of speed...

HE COULD HAVE KILLED A FAMILY WITH LITTLE KIDS IN THE VAN COMING HOME FROM SOME FAMILY FUNCTION...

I HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR THIS CLOWN AND I HOPE THE WEST BURROW BAPTIST CHURCH DO PICKET THIS LOW LIFES FUNERAL LIKE THEY SAY THEY ARE...

My two cents...

oh ya about that clown BAM who probably issued a press release that he would be at the crash site on such and such date and at such and such time ( GET A LIFE HOW COULD YOU USE THE DEATH OF YOUR " CHILDHOOD FRIEND " AS A PUBLICITY STUNT ??? YOU TWO ALWAYS LAUGHED IN THE FACE OF DANGER WELL GUESS WHAT KARAMA IS A B1TCH

How can the police know this information already, when it was noted in an earlier post that the toxicology reports won't be back for 4 to 6 weeks??? I think this is a lot of guessing on their parts!!

to all u people posting nothing but negitive things about Dunns death and how it wasent a surprize and he killed another man. well that other man had a choice to get into that car and also had a choice to take the keys from him but thats not the case. we all make bad choices and ryan was a gtreat guy and will be missed so show some F***ing respect. And let me guess all u a**holes post the rude comment r probly the ones who get behind the wheel drunk pretty often. RIP Dunn

Lets not forget the passenger was in the car at their own free will knowing the driver was drunk.

Both made a mistake.

i feel so sympathy for this selfish, reckless criminal and others like him. ebert was dead on and should have never apologized. no one should mourn the lives of drunk drivers. they made that decision. the world is better off without them. better they kill themselves then the innocent.

Think Im cruel?

Let me ask you, do you think this guy was laughing about what he was doing? Bragging? Making fun of it? Planned to do so afterward?
