Report: Ryan Dunn Had 11 Drinks Before Fatal Crash

6/24/2011 3:23 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn had ELEVEN drinks before stepping into his Porsche and crashing it off a Pennsylvania highway ... this according to a new report.

0624_ryan_dunn_bn_getty

According to MyFoxPhilly, Dunn downed the drinks over a 4-hour period. As we previously reported, Dunn had a blood alcohol level of .196 at the time of the crash ... more than twice the legal limit.

According to Fox, investigators believe Dunn ordered 8 drinks at the bar ... and then received an additional 3 drinks from fans while he hung out in the back.

According to Fox, that means the bar is off the hook -- because they didn't serve him the final three drinks, which investigators believe pushed Dunn over the edge ... into visibly drunk territory.

If true, it raises a bigger question -- namely, why didn't anyone STOP Dunn from getting into his car if he was visibly intoxicated?  It's the Roger Ebert argument.

Can the bartender and/or the bar be held to some degree of responsibility?

As a person who has had a loved family member killed by a drunk driver I have no sympathy at all for him, Rather him dead than innocent kids or people going about there daily lives,

Imagine if he had hit another car/cars full of family members YOUR family how would you feel.

You drink and Drive you suffer what comes
Debbie

Your right Debbie i would have to imagine that because IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. My condolences on your lose. Drunk driving is stupid but I'm pretty sick and tired of the vilification of everyone who has ever driven intoxicated because they could have killed someone.

The reality is everyone who has ever gotten behind the wheel of a car "could have killed someone". Far more people die in non-alcohol related traffic accidents each year the alcohol related ones. Driving is inherently dangerous and results in deaths.

I just read 28% of accidents involve talking or txting on a cellphone. DUI is just one of many forms of reckless driving.

Does someone who was talking on the phone deserve any less condemnation and prosecution because their reckless driving didn't involve alcohol?

Sorry i'm just sick and tired of people who've had a drink or two being vilified and prosecuted so much more severely then sober reckless drivers that do every bit as much damage.

Just remember...he became 'a star' because the public thought the antics in his 'movies' were cool. I never spent my money on that type of foolishness. You fans rewarded his behavior of stupidity by buying movie tickets. And he died just the way he lived...like a Jackass. Condolences to his family but no sympathy for him here. Stop idolizing stupidity!

look at tami's comment, she is right on. all of you have driven...drunk..easy to judge him...the bar should have cut him off., and taken his keys, if need be.., also his friends, the same. that is what bartender's and friends do. his passenger, if not drunk, should have driven. the whole thing doesnt add up...also, roger ebert is, and was dead wrong. he needs to zip up his big lips. sorry he had cancer, but the guy is continuously out of line, mean, and judgemental about lots of things. no apology to him. whoever said that is totally nuts. get real people...try compassion for dunn's family, and that of his passenger...remember this when you are driving while intoxicated. i guarantee you all have done it...so shut up. and, you all have sped, too.

WHY DID SOMEONE LET HIM GET IN THE CAR?!? Where were his "friends" to tell him or keep him from getting in front of the wheel in the first place?? If it's anyone's fault, it wasn't Ryan's...everyone knows "Friends dont let friends drive drunk". PERIOD!!

I'm sad for his death even though I'm not a Jackass fan. Ebert has been put to task for his comments. People are wondering about the bar. People are talking about that speed was probably a bigger factor. Now, the question is why didn't someone stop him?

It seems to me no one is asking why didn't he stop himself. He drank so much his level was double the legal limit. He drove and drove fast. He risked lives. He had enough $$$ to own a Porsche, to buy drinks but not call for a ride home. Let's talk about responsibility and he didn't take it. Hopefully, his choices and subsequent death will teach others.

He left the bar around 2:20 to drive his buddy home. They passed his house though and went to Waka to grab something to bite at the Greenhill Road. Dunn stayed in the car and Hartwell went in to get the food and drinks.
________________________________________________________________

Care to share a link proving they stopped to get food, because I can't find it in a single report.... and until I do, I'm gonna believe the cops over some random posting on a gossip site.

Also 11 drinks in 4 hours = Wasted, no doubt about it... especially if the majority are shots.... for all we know they were taking shots of somehing with 60% + alcohol which would definetly have you to drunk to drive after just a few.

Either way, Dunn tempted fate and it bit him in the ass big time.
