Dodger Beating Victim's Family: TMZ Is Being Unfair

6/28/2011 11:17 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The family of Bryan Stow -- the man who was brutally beaten outside Dodger Stadium -- is upset at TMZ's stories over the last day, claiming a remark about a hot dog in no way justified the beating.

Stow's family is upset that we posted the video, showing Stow in a verbal altercation with a Dodger fan.  The Dodger fan, Juan Banda, claims Stow had loudly said, "I rather eat my own feces than a Dodger dog."

A rep for the family tells TMZ, "There has been enough hurt and pain for Bryan, his family, friends and especially his two young children."  The rep believes we suggested Bryan's attack may have been warranted.

The rep says, "Banter is expected at any sporting event.  Violence should not be.  Bryan is not a violent person.  That shows as he remains seated, hands up as someone is in his face yelling.  Over what? Comments about a hot dog?!!"

So... the reason why he got himself beat up isn't as important as the beat down itself then? Idiotic logic - 'not saying he got what he deserved, but, if he shut his mouth up, nothing would have probably happen to him...

Jay Jay

You dont kick someone brains in over a hot dog comment.

Maverick Maverick

It's quite possible that Bryan Stow was shooting his mouth off. And pissed someone off. No matter what, his beating was completely unjustified. But it's possible that Stow is not quite the angel everyone thinks he is. And perhaps his family should realize that.

Obviously the violence was not warranted and the perpetrators are scum that need to be behind bars. That being said... it is generally a bad idea to piss people off for no reason. If I (as a white person) were to go into a minority neighborhood and started shouting racial epithets I wouldn't deserve to be beaten into a coma, but I'd be stupid to not think that it could happen.

Dan Dan

So I guess the family did not want the general public to see that Bryan was not the angelic person they have portrayed him to be.

Well if it matters, personally I would rather eat feces than a dodger dog too. Dodger fans are insane. I was at an Angels vs Dodger game and I can't even tell you how many fights were started in the parking lot by Dodger fans. L.A. shouldnt be allowed any sports teams, they don't know how to play nice. i.e- Lakers, Dodger, Raiders..

Try walking into a bar full of military, and start talking crap about America, the military, and the US Flag, and you will see the same result. I feel bad because Stow was beaten so badly(meaning there is a gentleman's code among fighters that you dont continually pound on someone once they are out cold), but he should have kept his mouth shut. For some reason, a certain demographic believes they have to write to say whatever without consequences. This is America damn it!

How do you know that it was the Dodger fans that started the fights? Were you there for at the beginning of all these fights you allegedly saw?

You can not be neieve going to opening day in the Gang Capital of the world, disrespecting the home team, being a fan of their most hated rival, and not possibly getting your face trampled.. QUIT BEING NEIVE!!! You cant do that and not think to yourself "um self.. I know this is just a game, but some of these Dodger fans are notoriously violent and confrontational. Should I be doing this?"

Seems like his mouth wrote a check his a** couldn't cash. Not justifying what happened to him, but again you don't go around running your mouth and expect nothing to happen.

they got the video, they put it up...thats it
its these LA fans who are out of there mind with most of them commenting along the lines of either mockery or saying he somewhat deserved it, off and on tmz threads

Sounds to me like he thinks he can trash talk anybody, yet when they trash talk him, it's a problem. Hypocrite.

I'm not saying it's right, but if Stow hadn't said f*** all, he wouldn't be in this situation.

I was all on board with the POOR guy. Who should know better to go to a dodger game ever. And to go to a dodger game in as a Giants fan and now we here he talked BS. Maybe his family should have taught him not to poke a bear. Just sayin. And it is right NO. But you do have some responsibility over your own actions.

When attending sporting events at a venue HOME to a team other than ones own, behavior should always be kept as if one was visiting a residence, someone's home... just keep it respectful. It's not your home.

First of all, you can't even look sideways at a gang memeber without disrespecting them in Los Angeles, let alone say something that they don't agree with. These are the same type of people who demand respect, yet repect nothing else. And second, what Stow said wasn't completely out of the ordinary. Have any of you actually had a Dodger Dog? Not exactly the best dog in town.

It's like yelling the "N" word in Compton and Watts. There's gonna be trouble. Insulting the taste of a Dodgerdog will bring you the same response.

In no way do any comments warrant such a beating. However, he has been portrayed as a 100% innocent by stander. If he made these comments in LA against the Giants, he was going to provoke people. This sheds new light on just who might have been the culprit, and could help with the investigation. I am beginning to believe the guy they have tried to finger is innocent

Can we just cut to the chase and ask him how much he wants?
