Dodger Beating Victim's Family: TMZ Is Being Unfair

6/28/2011 11:17 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The family of Bryan Stow -- the man who was brutally beaten outside Dodger Stadium -- is upset at TMZ's stories over the last day, claiming a remark about a hot dog in no way justified the beating.

Stow's family is upset that we posted the video, showing Stow in a verbal altercation with a Dodger fan.  The Dodger fan, Juan Banda, claims Stow had loudly said, "I rather eat my own feces than a Dodger dog."

A rep for the family tells TMZ, "There has been enough hurt and pain for Bryan, his family, friends and especially his two young children."  The rep believes we suggested Bryan's attack may have been warranted.

The rep says, "Banter is expected at any sporting event.  Violence should not be.  Bryan is not a violent person.  That shows as he remains seated, hands up as someone is in his face yelling.  Over what? Comments about a hot dog?!!"

So... the reason why he got himself beat up isn't as important as the beat down itself then? Idiotic logic - 'not saying he got what he deserved, but, if he shut his mouth up, nothing would have probably happen to him...

Jay Jay

You dont kick someone brains in over a hot dog comment.

Maverick Maverick

It's quite possible that Bryan Stow was shooting his mouth off. And pissed someone off. No matter what, his beating was completely unjustified. But it's possible that Stow is not quite the angel everyone thinks he is. And perhaps his family should realize that.

Obviously the violence was not warranted and the perpetrators are scum that need to be behind bars. That being said... it is generally a bad idea to piss people off for no reason. If I (as a white person) were to go into a minority neighborhood and started shouting racial epithets I wouldn't deserve to be beaten into a coma, but I'd be stupid to not think that it could happen.

Dan Dan

So I guess the family did not want the general public to see that Bryan was not the angelic person they have portrayed him to be.

Well if it matters, personally I would rather eat feces than a dodger dog too. Dodger fans are insane. I was at an Angels vs Dodger game and I can't even tell you how many fights were started in the parking lot by Dodger fans. L.A. shouldnt be allowed any sports teams, they don't know how to play nice. i.e- Lakers, Dodger, Raiders..

what the family is really worried about with these new developments, is that their chances of getting a few million bucks from the dodgers are slowly diminishing. the court of public opinion is changing. there are two sides to every story and the truth usually lies somewhere in between. im wondering if they did a blood alcohol level when they took him to the hospital, it would be interesting to note if he was drunk?

Harvey this isn't some drunk celeb or a sex scandal. This is a man who's life will never be the same. His two children will never have the father they once knew. Shame on you for making it seem like he was asking for it.

The people using the friends and family excuse sure don't care about the friends and family listening to him carry on at the game. If he was going to behave that way inside where they do have security to toss people like that out- it makes me wonder how he behaved in the parking lot. Where is the info -where are his friends- They should know a bit more.TMZ has done a good job reporting this. Some people can not deal with the truth.

HarryPalms - that would mean you would have to have some manners (etiquette is a code of behavior that delineates expectations for social behavior according to contemporary conventional norms within a society, social class, or group.) Apparently, you have never spoken to a Dodger Fan or gone to a Dodger game -- NO CLASS!

While I'm sorry this man was beaten, sometimes you need to just shut up. There's a whole group of people out there who think they should be able to say whatever they say whenever they want to say it. You CAN do and say whatever you want - just don't cry about the consequences.

No matter how bad a Dodger Dog may taste, it is in fact a tradition for Dodger Fans for around 55 years. Yes, it's only a sport, but sporting events serve alcoholic drinks which spur up home field passions. This Dodger Dog incident is, I'm sure, only the tip of the iceberg that Bryan Stow brought upon himself.

No flucking DUH his remarks didn't warrant a beating! WTF do you expect from a site that reports on Lindsay Lohan's every bowel movement?

@ JustB: I have gone to Dodger games and spoken with Dodger fans... you started off great but you generalization of Dodger fans just threw your opinion down the gutter.

The Stow family is stooping low here, just like their brother they are fond of intimidating people, they are telling TMZ or other media sources not to report the story if it hurts their Angel Brian.
he does not deserve that but dont try to influence the truth because it makes you look bad. well i wonder if someone will really tell on who did it if you (stow) are going to behave this way.
wish him a quick recovery.

Good work TMZ. This is very relevant to the situation. There might have been several people that were pissed of at Stow that day. Nothing justifies his beating but....

Juan was just defending Dodger dogs by trying to beat someone to death. Hey holmes, you don't like our hot dogs, I'm gonna shank you fool.
