L.A. Dodgers Bounce Payroll Checks

6/30/2011 4:48 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Here it is in black and white ... The Los Angeles Dodgers are bouncing payroll checks.

TMZ has obtained a check ... signed by beleaguered Dodger owner Frank McCourt.  We've been asked to black out the name of the Dodger employee, but she works at Dodger Stadium.  The check was written on June 24 in the amount of $497.54.

The check was presented but rejected as "Refer to Maker."

The L.A. Dodgers now say ... checks for some game day staff members did indeed bounce, but checks were reissued Wednesday.

Of course, the Dodgers have filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection.

Hi TMZ people. Can we see more stories about women beaters like Chris Brown. It's fun to read about pathetic people. Thx.

big al

i work with checks & i know that "refer to maker" can be any number of things but can also be because of insufficient funds. the originating bank knows why but it probably won't fit on a stamp. the person the check was made out to can find out why it was returned & probably should have before immediately contacting the press looking for a payout. hopefully the foolish employee won't get into any trouble once they match the total of the the check to their payroll records.

So now that the big $ with fox is dead. Does that mean the divorce is off as well? She won't be getting hundreds of millions, so will she stick around? I bet her driver won't

In the best interest of the LA Dodgers and the City of Los Angeles, it's time for Frank McCourt and his greedy wife to go!!!

incentives need to be placed in the right spots. you study 10 yrs and become a doctor and become a millionaire, thats incentive.

Mc Court's hag of a wife spends $497 per week on her nails alone and these people bounce payroll checks to working stiffs???

Refer to Maker doesn't necessarily mean the account holder is at fault. My company has had checks returned for this and it is the banks error. Either part of the MICR number or account number has been torn off the bottom. Bank employees attach a strip to the bottom of the check and they have keyed the information wrong. Anything could have happened here.

I'll bet the player's checks didn't bounce. Way to screw the little people. Shee it - a $497 check - was it for 2 weeks of work? If that employee had any of his bills be late, Dodgers ought to cover those fees too!

Black out the name and leave the amount? Really? Way to protect yourself. I assume even Frank is smart enough to figure out who this is and move this dingaling from Dodger dog duty to the latrine patrol.
