Casey Anthony Lawyers

Champagne Celebration!

7/6/2011 6:45 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Casey Anthony's defense team was SO fired up about the HUGE not guilty verdict in the child murder case yesterday ... they rolled across the street and started POPPIN' BUBBLY!!!

0706_jose_celebration_EXP3
TMZ has obtained photos showing attorney Jose Baez and his team having a champagne toast at the Terrace 390 restaurant ... located right across the street from the Orange County Courthouse in Florida.

Our friend Jane Velez-Mitchell was outside the restaurant doing the play-by-play for HLN during the celebration.

Of course, yesterday was a big day for Baez ... and Anthony ... who was found not guilty of killing her 2-year-old daughter back in 2008.

0706_jose_celebration_sub3
Minutes before the toast, Baez gave a news conference and told reporters, "There are no winners in this case. Caylee has passed on far, far too soon. Two-year-old Caylee's death should not be lost in her mother's requital."

So, after making that statement ... still think it was OK for Baez to raise a glass in triumph?

If it weren't concerning a child, I don't think it would be in bad taste. But there's a little angel that will never get the chance to grow up. Just because this was a "victory" for them, it isn't a victory that a precious life was snuffed out before it could be lived. This case shocked the country, and they knew that their actions would be seen. Because of that, it is definitely a disgusting thing to do.

Crystal Crystal

I think they have worked on this case for 3 years and deserve a little toast as a task was completed! It was a victory for them!

Disgusting

I think they are just following the path of bad taste they have shown throughout the whole trial. They are being consistent. I cannot get over the fact that the American Justice system has done this AGAIN. OJ, Lindsay it is the laughing stock.

lisa lisa

Very bad taste. They don't really care about Caylee Anthony, it was all about winning. :/

Sudio Sudio

Bad taste in doing this publicly. They did win -and are entitled to celebrate - but should have been back at the office - behind closed doors. Such a highly controversial verdict -this is just inciting the whackos like Nancy Grace and her ilk.

Shouldn't surprise anyone when 'some' defense attorneys act like sleaze bags. They spend most of their time on earth lying, knowing the person the are defending is guilty as hell. Of course we need them when the person is innocent. How anyone could defend her is beyond me. For what she did AFTER knowing her kid was dead and lying in the woods if nothing else. The lies she told are what created reasonable doubt in the investigation and murder trial. If she had just told the cops originally where the kid was (and the rest of the truth), they could have found out what happened specifically.

well, and I will say the jury consultant did its job. Looks like the demographic was one most likely to find sympathy for this disgusting lump of flesh Anthony. Maybe they want to screw her after the trial....anyhow, I daresay you'd be hard pressed to find anybody on that jury with a graduate-level education. By design. Baez is a sleazeball. I hope he sleeps well at night.

I think the "bad taste" began when they chose to represent Casey Anthony and continued as they chose to remain on the case through all her lies and her blatant disregard for her daughter's welfare. Actions speak louder than words and show more of character that any "evidence" they might have found. I understand the need for representation but I personally could not sleep at night if I felt she committed the crime she was accused of. Perhaps they didn't, but I don't see how. Of course, this is just a sample of people getting away with murder, people are upset because it became a high profile case, like the Nicole Simpson case, but unfortunately for Caylee, who is going to file at least a civil suit against Casey, her parents? She not only isn't going to jail, but now is she free to sell her story in print and television? That will be a lot of money for tattoos and drinks. There must be a special place in hell....

I don't think it was in bad taste, because it's their job to take instructions from a client and if they've done a good job, good for them. It's not like they probably expected someone to take a cellphone picture of their toast and (presumably - I don't know) sell it. Everything I've read about this, which isn't a great deal, suggests this was a failure of the police and prosecution to prove things beyond a reasonable doubt. Placing the blame on the defense team seems to be ignoring the wider point that investigatory, forensic, police and prosecution errors led here. Nobody is taking pictures of them.

It's not in bad taste at all. They won a HUGE case. Law firms often celebrate after winning something like this because not only did they win, but it means their firm will see a big influx of clients. It's really no one's business where they choose to celebrate or how. They've obviously spent a lot of time on this case and sunk a lot of hard work into is. Why should they be any different than any other firm that wins a big case? People really need to stop blowing things out of proportion and trying to make more out of them than what's really there. That's what's disgusting. Furthermore, I don't understand why people are so outraged over the verdict. She probably is guilty, but the state presented a very weak case and they knew it was weak from the get go. If you're outraged, it should be at them for not doing their job.

Winning!!!
The classiest was when the attorney with the beard that scolded the media after the trial flipped off people outside the restaurant. Yeah. They did their job alright. So who killed that innocent baby girl?

Spend enough time around lawyers and you will learn that it's not about justice or morality or any of the things we think it should be about. It is about winning. Doesn't matter if the public agrees with the verdict or how these lawyers went about getting to that verdict. They won and after 3 years of working toward that goal, they celebrate.

And when lawyers are elected to Congress (and most of those in Congress are lawyers), they switch from prosecutor and defense attorney to Democrat or Republican and they go into those chambers to win. Doesn't matter if it's just or moral or any of the things we think it should be about. To them, it is still just about winning.

Dancing on a dead baby's grave. Weird how these low life lawyers complain about the media convicting their client while they threw around unsubstantiated allegations against Lee and George Anthony without any proof. They came up with theories without proof. They let a killer walk free.

The jury wanted a YouTube of the murder. I hope they can live with knowing they declared that moms can murder their children as long as they hide the body.

baez is a slimeball they all are, no class really no surprise. I think defense attorneys are sociopaths like many of their clients how else could they lie like they do, i doubt he believes one word of the defense he pushed but he's able to get up there and lie like a champ because he's missing somthing inside called a conscience just like his vile pathetic client.
Go kill again casey babies perhaps someone elderly the weakest person you can find because the next one's on baez.

If they wanted to celebrate, the least they could do was to do it privately. Jose Baez said there are no winners here. Really? They sure were partying like winners. They never cared about Caylee. They only cared about getting Casey off

A little girl is dead. They should be happy that they won...but I personally would feel sick that a child was murdered, and no one is paying for it.

What is the highest education level of the Jurors??????
Something is wrong with the system. The juror system has to be eliminated. If they only went to Sunday School that clearly is not enough. And I seriously doubt that that they have ANY education.
IQ TESTING SHOULD HAVE BEEN APPLIED -
I mean it this is a shame for the whole justice system.

I think it is in total distaste that they celebrate so soon and so public. Want to go back to the firm and raise a glass, if you must. However, justice was not done for a little girl who is now dead. You can't tell me that Casey had nothing to do with her daughter's death. You don't wait 31 days to report your child missing! Even if it was an accident...you fess up to it and deal with it. Something is not right here, and the only reason she did not get a guilty verdict is because the prosecution screwed up and didn't present a proper case...pushing too hard for the first degree charge. RIP little Caylee...you will NOT be forgotten.
