'Sister Wives' Family -- Just Like The Gays!

7/12/2011 7:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The Mormons and the gays -- they don't always get along ... but thanks to a brand new lawsuit about to be filed by "Sister Wives" star Kody Brown, it seems they have more in common than you'd think!

Brown and his multi-wife "plural" family claim they're filing a lawsuit against the state of Utah tomorrow -- challenging the bigamy law that makes their lifestyle illegal.

The Brown family attorney posted a statement on his blog saying, "We are not demanding the recognition of polygamous marriage. We are only challenging the right of the state to prosecute people for their private relations and demanding equal treatment with other citizens in living their lives according to their own beliefs."

The attorney adds, "It is a challenge designed to benefit not just polygamists but all citizens who wish to live their lives according to their own values -- even if those values run counter to those of the majority in the state."

The legal argument is virtually identical to the one made by supporters of gay marriage ... which is illegal in most U.S. states ... including Utah.

So, we gotta ask ...

Cody is an idiot. The state of Utah is going to laugh at you. Utahans think you are an idiot and glad you have left the state. Go sell some signs for Yesco and leave the happy state of Utah alone.

The results of this poll is the most hypocritical thing I have ever seen. OK, first, this guy isn't asking to legalize poly marriage, he is asking not to be prosecuted for living his lifestyle. I ask this, if being gay was a felony how would most of you feel? Maybe the poll should read should being in a poly relationship be legal, not should polygamist marriage be legal? I am not a big fan of Mr. Brown. Frankly, I think he's a douche. But, I do believe that if 3 or more people can have a meaningful loving relationship, who is to judge that? I think Mr. Brown has a very valid point with his lawsuit. It's funny as a society we are all starting to see that love can come in more than one variety, we've accepted biracial relationships, gay marriage is around the corner... But God forbid more than two people are in love... that's just icky. America, I love you but sometimes you're just dumb.

Beliefs?

So what if someone's "beliefs" include marrying 6 year old girls? Or a "belief" in ritualized killings?

What about legalizing inter species marriage. That should send a few tails wagging!!! Lord knows I'd rather put my stunningly handsome dog on my insurance than some of the humans (male or female) that I run into.

I only recognize the union of two consenting adults, whether they're heterosexual or homosexual. The only way I'd accept a union of more than two consenting adults is if everyone involved is in love. None of this 'one ******* with four wives' ****.

TMZ is really very clever. Harvey knows it is spelled "Mormon," and he knows that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints excommunicates polygamists like Brown and his harem. But when he spells it wrong and falsely implies that the Mormon (LDS) church endorses polygamy and that Brown is still a Mormon, he generates controversy, and thus comments, and thus page views, and thus revenue. Well played, Harvey!

Joe, a computer or a doll can't consent so no, it won't happen that way.
MaB "perversion of marriage" REALLY? That's already been happening for a LONG time by straight people alone. Think of all the married men who have molested little kids, or the amount of infidelity and the divorce rate. Don't use that as an excuse because marriage is a joke! You can't pretend to support a "FREE" country with FREEDOM OF RELIGION when you think YOUR personal beliefs are the ONLY correct way of life. It's not fair and it impedes others right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I'm not saying you are wrong, I believe whatever people choose to put their faith into is right for them but to try and control other peoples way of life is wrong. According to the bill of rights and the constitution, everyone has the right to worship how they choose and to go after their own personal happiness, despite how many religions disagree. It's not about religion, it's about AMERICAN FREEDOM <3

If your gonna make polygamy illegal then so should cheating. Atleast in this case everyone knows the deal. Just as long as we don't have to pay for it with government assistance.

I'd never really given it much thought before. Homosexuals don't want special rights like marrying a doll jackass, they just want to be treated EQUALLY. So even though I think this polygamy **** is crazy, why should I sit here and tell them what they can do, who they can love. If those ladies want to share their man, let 'em.

What hypocrisy, the same number who voted against polygamy voted for gay marriage. What's wrong is the dumbing down of America, the liberal insanity that has taken over and is hell bent on destroying itself and us with it. They are all nothing more than self-haters whose argument isn't with society it's with natural, normal opposite sex relationships. They obviously didn't get enough love so stayed babies.

This just doesn't gel with me. The Brown "family" attorney claims he is just trying to prevent the state from prosecuting people for their private relations, but the wording of the suit states, "It is a challenge designed to benefit not just polygamists but all citizens who wish to live their lives according to their own values -- even if those values run counter to those of the majority in the state."

With broad, open-ended wording like that, we'll have all kinds of nut cases jumping on the band wagon claiming a precedent has been set here and that they are free to smoke crack in their own home because it is part of their 'values'; or beat their wives because it is part of their 'values'; or abuse their children because it is part of their 'values', and on and on and on.... Oh, pah-lease!
