'Harry Potter' Author Scores Multi-Million $$ Thank You

7/20/2011 5:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

As if J.K. Rowling wasn't rich enough -- Warner Bros. gave her a token of its appreciation for the latest "Harry Potter" flick -- an insanely expensive piece of jewelry.

Sources close to CEO Barry Meyer tell TMZ ... Rowling scored a white gold, antique 40-diamond bracelet worth millions of dollars -- which he presented to her at the London premiere after-party.

According to sources, Rowling was nervous about donning such a valuable piece of jewelry before she got it insured ... but  she got a more primitive form of insurance -- a bunch of burly security guards at the bash.

Price, of course, is relative -- wordwide, the latest movie has grossed more than half-a-billion bucks.

Hmmm... IDK... mages would make for pretty good super-heroes.

Think it'd be interesting if HP used his powers in the Muggle world. Maybe fight some supervillains. That'd be interesting. And different.

I hear you. I don't make alot of money working in this coal mine, either. Medical bills piling up from the Black Lung. Spike II starting to look grimy.

*Cough* *Cough* Well, enough chit chat. Back to mining. Got a lucky dime in my shoe in hopes I'll be able to find some diamonds in the coal. Wish me luck.

This woman gave the world an incredible gift that is loved by readers of all ages. The movies have made mega-millions, why shouldn't she be appreciated by the studio? She has remained humble and decent and deserves every dime she has made. Those books didn't write themselves, they took years of hard work and dedication.

Yeah, such hard work and dedication the last movie can't get it over with fast enough - oh, who died? Cue two seconds and next scene! - and something as major as the Elder Wand and what becomes of it is totally and stupidly changed in the film. Imagine if Frodo just decided to put the One Ring in Al Gore's "lockbox" for safe keeping and the heck with Mt. Doom.

@Sterling713 Do your research. JK Rowling donates a lot of her money to charity. She's not some spoiled heiress flaunting her family money. She actually worked hard for what she got. It's a nice gesture from Warner Brothers to the women who inspired a generation of kids to stop watching TV/playing video games and read.

My mother always says, "money goes to money!" It would be nice if they did something for the people who go to work everyday at WB instead.

Given her background being down and out at one point in her life you would think she may have appreciated that money being donated to a charity. Just my opinion.

J.K. Rowling gives a lot to charity. Just as her first couple of books were getting popular a guy I worked with was trying to raise money for the terminally ill son of a friend to get expensive gizmos to make his life easier. He wrote to loads of celebs and TV shows for stuff to auction. Response was variable buy J.K. Rowling sent hardback copies signed with messages and lots of other stuff. She also kept in touch because the little boy was a fan. She had some tough times and has given millions to the charities that helped her. She hasn't forgotten her past and bet she auctions the diamonds at some point for charity.

Why not settle for 1 million dollar ring, and use the other 3 million to help some of the world's suffering and poor.
How many cars, homes, rings, expensive bottles of wine, and toys can one have.
These wealthy should start doing something with this money to help. Go take a trip to Africa and see these poor kids with Flies eating their gaunt bodies.

Well, it's a token of appreciation so who cares what it is.
