Sounds like Kristin did not want to spend her time in Chicago with her fiancee but would rather have a superficial career in LA. I note that Jay, forever the gentleman, has nothing bad to say about Kristin. I suppose he found out she didn't love him as much as she thought she did.

Long distance relationships never work and in marriage you have to put your spouse first. That can only work if you recognise the priorities and with footballers the wife needs to give his career priority because it has a relatively short term and limited window. The wife should have children whilst she is young and her body is best suited to motherhood. She can follow her career later.
