Katherine Jackson

Courting MASSIVE Stars for

MJ Tribute Show

8/9/2011 5:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Jackson's mom has personally reached out to some of the biggest music stars in the world in the hopes of getting them to perform at the big MJ tribute show in October ... but only ONE of them is a definite YES ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected to the concert tell us ... Jay-Z, Kanye West, Cee Lo, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Usher and Bruno Mars have each received an invitation (pictured above) from Katherine Jackson ... asking them to perform 1 or 2 of their favorite MJ songs in Cardiff, Wales on Oct. 8.

Katherine promises each star who signs on will be provided with "first class travel accommodations."

We're told Chris Brown, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars have each respectfully declined the invite due to scheduling conflicts ... however, Christina and Kanye are leaning towards "Yes."

As for the one person who's already signed on the dotted line -- sources tell us Cee Lo from Gnarls Barkley was quick to commit.

Tickets to the event have not gone on sale yet -- but promoters say they will become available once a complete line-up is booked.

How does Katherine Jackson afford this when she claims she doesn't get enough money?

Michael Jackson had a very simple will. His mother and his kids are taken care of. The rest of the Jacksons espically his father, NO. Michael Jackson finially broke out of the Jackson5, went on his own, his terms and kicked ass. The rest of his family outside of his big sister Rebe and Janet, have been sponging off of his solo success and still is.

It's still classic...Michael Jackson is worth more dead than alive.

The Jackson family needs to stop trying to organize a tribute/reunion concert. It was Michael that had the talent, appeal, popularity, and influence. The other family members do not (except for Janet) have that talent or power. The fans liked Michael and liked his music. The fans do not want to see other singers see his songs. The family would be better off just releasing a DVD of all of Michael's music videos and part of his concert footage.

Why not get the people that Michael really knew or chose to work with, such as Barry Gibb, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross etc.
Now that would be a concert worth seeing!

Probably because those were the "world class performers" Global Live tried to get first, and they all said they wouldn't touch this controversial fake charity thing with a 10-foot pole...

HOW MANY tribute concerts/tv shows/dvd can you have for one person? These people are morally corupt

THIS is how you do a tribute worthy of Michael's legacy, and THIS is how you communicate with fans -- with respect. You do not ignore them, lie to them, deceive them, and give them a snarky attitude (such as telling them "You're very naive" when they ask on your offical Facebook page why you didn't seek the approval of Michael's estate).

Just finished watching the Warren Jeffs trial, where he "conned" young children into having sex with him, claiming it was "Gods Will". I noticed similarities with the Michael Jackson trial. Jesus Juice all around!

The Jacksons need money because their longtime backer MJ is dead. They want to lead a millionaire life and to appear as millionaires and charity patrons. But the truth is: Without MJ they have no income. And they have nothing to offer. The consequence: They need jobs. But they don't want to work. So they create dubious websites:,, with german .de. But why??? Joseph Jackson lives in Las Vegas, United States??? Poor MJ became insane with these bunch of braggards at his back. But MJ fans are not MJ. They should stop this sheer madness. MJ is
dead and he never comes back. This means: No more news from MJ. Sad but true. If you want to hear MJ music, listen to his CDs. These "stars" have nothing to do with Michael Jackson and his music.

She's baaaack

Honour? Oh how veddy veddy British of you Mrs Jackson. Seems like I remember some ghetto folk in Indiana pushing their kids to perform like little slaves not that far back. Honour indeed!

Get it straight. The thug known as c brown is not allowed on the british isles. He cannot 'respectfully decline' if he is persona non grata.

Remember June 2010?
"In a statement, the British Home Office said, "We reserve the right to refuse entry to the U.K. to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offence. Public safety is one of our primary concerns."

This is a tacky idea at best. There have been enough "tributes" to Jackson following his death at various award shows and such. Enough is enough for a while. If anything, Mrs. Jackson should at least wait until the 5 year anniversary of his passing. The American Music Awards, Grammys, BET, Dancing With/Stars, Glee and other shows have all honored Michael accordingly. Then there was the matter of his funeral covered live on TV. What elese would Mrs. Jackson like for her son? Most of these performers would never have even bothered to return Michael's phone calls (should he still have been alive). Most of these Jacksons (except for Janet) do what they do best - create a circus-like atmosphere. And if Jermaine or daddy-dearest gets at all involved, rest asured each of these A-list entertainers will head for the hills as fast as their limos can get them there. Michael is resting with his best friend Elizabeth so it's time to let it go for a while.

Michael Jackson WAS like a Navy SEAL: he pushed himself beyond the limits: mentally tough, physically fit, and possessing extreme courage. That was his way of life.

I don't get this. Didn't they learn anything from the Vienna concert that never happened? Why don't they arrange with the participants first, and make the announcement later? What's the point of putting yourself at risk of another failure?
