At Live Concert

Jani Lane Warrant Concert
Jani Lane's former band will pay tribute to the fallen singer at their concert tonight in North Dakota ... TMZ has learned.

Guitarist Erik Turner -- who co-founded the band -- tells us, "We will be making a tribute before we play the song 'Heaven' tonight."

He adds, "We never thought that when the song 'Heaven' was written we would be playing it someday in the memory of Jani's untimely death. This is a very sad day for rock and roll. One of the great things about music is that it lives on forever."

Lane penned the song "Heaven" back in 1989 -- and it's said to be the band's most commercially successful single.

Let me get this straight, Jani's band is and was playing without him before he passed away?? So basically a tribute band yet they had his blessing? He must have sold them the rights. Jani had a beautiful club here in Orlando about 13-15 years ago and he appeared to be a nice guy (at least from the brief interludes). I was never a big fan of the band but hearing that his bands namesake was playing while he is in some comfort in dealing with his inner demons really stinks. God bless his family and friends. But the cover band should not be using his band name that he put on the collective map (regardless of naming rights).
