Lil Wayne SUED

"How to Love" Beat Is STOLEN

8/21/2011 5:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Lil Wayne rapped on stolen property -- at least according to another MC, who insists he's the rightful owner of the beat behind Weezy's "How to Love" ... and now, he's out for some legal vengeance.

Rapper Rich Rick (right) filed the lawsuit earlier this week in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming he purchased several master recordings between 2006 and 2009 -- including the beat that now appears on "How to Love" -- from a group of rap producers called Drummer Boyz.

Rick claims the Drummer Boyz double-crossed him in November 2010 -- pitching the SAME beat to Lil Wayne ... and Weezy acquired it in exchange for a 35% royalty agreement, eventually using the beat on "How to Love."

The song's a hit -- and needless to say, Rick's royally pissed ... insisting the Drummer Boyz screwed him over.

Rick's suing Weezy, the Drummer Boyz, and others for everything from breach of contract to fraud -- demanding everything DB are entitled to under their agreement with Wayne ... plus 10% interest.

Attempts to reach the Drummer Boyz were unsuccessful. Calls to Weezy's camp weren't returned.

Its difficult to place the blame. Music production is a complicated process involving engineers, musicians, artists and labels. The business people need to introduce really tight systems to structure collaboration and pacify risk of being subject to legislative woes. I love this tune though. I would like a consistent flow of this vibe of music. Any recommendations?

You can search for music by mood or vibe on http://onecluster.com or steromood.com. Wayne can jack me any day ;D The dude should count himself lucky for having been jacked by Wayne.

Stealing somebodies beat is like stealing a baby. That is somebodies hard work that just got taken away. However, I think lil'wayne is the innocent party in all this. He probably didn't know the beat was stolen. Track jackin happens all the time to the little guys tryin to make it. I feel bad for Rich Rick. I also feel bad for lil'wayne cuz it's alwayz some bull**** being said about him. As for the drummer boyz, They pulled a bitch move and should be dealt with from both sides. They f*cked dude with no vaseline when they took his music. They straight raped him. I would be pissed to!!!!!!!

Oh, look at that, another rapper stealing someone else's material. Why is this even headline news? Rap hasn't been original in almost 20 years. Hopefully it'll die out completely in the next 10 years.

All rappers steal. 50 cent?! Kanye?! They all steal each other's stuff and lift lines from arcane books - check into it - listen to the lyrics. This song? this sucks...I feel bad for the rapper who's suing. Sue Apple too for distributing it!!
