Ric Flair Threatens Lawsuit

Boozing Has Not

Damaged My Heart

8/26/2011 3:25 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Wrestling icon Ric Flair is FURIOUS over an article which claims the Nature Boy is suffering from a serious medical condition caused by years of hardcore boozing ... because Ric claims it's NOT TRUE and now he's threatening to sue.

The unflattering article -- which paints Flair as a troubled, irresponsible mess of a person -- ran on an ESPN affiliated website called Grantland.com ... and the report is mostly based on court documents.

But Flair is particularly pissed about the reporter's claim that he suffers from Alcoholic Cardiomyopathy -- a disease caused by years of alcohol abuse which often leads to heart failure.

A rep for Flair -- -- whose real name is Richard Fliehr -- tells TMZ, "While the information gleaned from courthouse records may be credible, Mr. Fliehr is currently evaluating his legal options with respect to falsehoods in the story, specifically the untrue statement that he suffers from alcoholic cardiomyopathy."

The rep adds, "Our client understands that these allegations are part of the territory when you are not only famous, but a living legend."

lol. Ric admitted he had Alcoholic Cardiomyopathy in his own autobiography. His own words! I guess the drinking has affected his memory and he forgot about that. Oops. I suspect this threat of legal action will quietly disappear.

Just because the man might enjoy a drink doesn't automatically mean it's a problem! We've become such a bunch of whiney babies!

This will be interesting since Flair admitted in his book that he had alcoholic cardiomyopathy.

How out of control is this guy?? I love how he is pissed that the article says he has a heart condition, but not a single word about how he has basically straight stolen millions of dollars from people, some of whom considered him a friend beforehand

Firstly, I don't think there EXISTS a pic of Naitch that isn't sweaty or bloody. Second, I don't think he needs to worry a whole lot that someone saying his ticker's bad will ruin his image - he's doing a fine job of that all by himself by refusing to step out of the ring.

lets see. he got in trouble in 2005 for road rage, denting up someones car and choking the guy around the neck, but oh, hes a great person. he talked crap and called someones wife fat, very fat at a wrestling match the other night, but oh hes a great person. he dribnks like a fish, destroys his body, but he is oh a great person. keep holding this angry old guy up because at some point it is all going to come back and bite him for treating people like crap because he thinks he is a living legend. hes a legend all right, but not for the memories he is creating. he a legend in his own mind. why can so many people achieve great things in sports, and still treat people like they matter. ric just treats people worse. legend my foot.
