'Glee' Star

Bruising Photo to Help

Domestic Violence Victims

It seems ironic ... but the brutal photo of "Glee" star Heather Morris sporting a fake black eye will be auctioned off soon ... and all of the proceeds will go towards a domestic violence charity ... TMZ has learned.

The photo ignited a major controversy when it was released on the Internet a few days ago -- with some critics saying it glamorizes violence against women.

But Tyler Shields, the photog behind the shot, tells us that was NOT the intention -- and he's sorry it came off that way.

Shields says ... to make up for the controversy, he'll be auctioning off the photo, starting at $100k, and will donate every single cent he makes to a top domestic violence charity.

Forgiven??

Lets hope someone beats the s*** out of her for real. Maybe then she'll get that this isn't as "funny" as she thinks. Domestic violence and wife-beating is NOT entertainment. She needs to get a demonstration and then let's see how she feels about this "glamour-shoot." Likely the pain and bruising won't seem so cool then.

Meh

Props to Shields for getting her to agree to doing the shoot. I mean she's got to be some sort of idiot to agree to soemthing like this. All this publicity sure as hell isn't hurting his career.

I don't see what the issue is with this Photograph. Art often imitates life, and there are women that are victims of domestic violence. Why not show a popular Actor, especially popular among a younger generation as a victim. She is not smiling in the picture. Or concealing it. Are people socked by the image? Would a photo in front of an abortion clinic be different? or standing in front of a car accepting money in a short skirt? The idea should be to portray something that is not normally seen and allow people to discuss hoe they interpret it. Which is does.

For those of you unsure as to how this glamorizes domestic violence, go ahead and take a look at the rest of the shoot.

Which domestic violence charity is he going to support, Makers of Memories? If we can help children from homes of domestic violence we can have the biggest long term change. More than 80% of boys and 77% of girls who experience domestic violence as children go on to repeat it as adults, studies show. These individuals are six times more likely to commit suicide, 50 times more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol and ultimately perpetuate the cycle of violence that leads to an untold loss of human potential. More than 90% of prisoners in the U.S. experienced domestic violence as children. (Data from Makers of Memories Foundation)
