Dr. Conrad Murray

Lawyers Seek to Bar Testimony

On Swallowing Propofol

Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers want to ban a prosecution medical expert from testifying that ingesting Propofol would not trigger a fatal reaction.

TMZ broke the story months ago ... the defense will argue ... a frustrated Michael Jackson accidentally killed himself by either ingesting or injecting himself with a fatal dose of Propofol when Dr. Murray left the room.

Prosecutors intend to call Dr. Steven Shafer, who embraces two studies which allegedly conclude a patient can't die from orally ingesting the drug.

In one of the studies, 6 Chilean students volunteered to drink Propofol -- and they survived just fine.

Another study produced the same results, but the patients were pigs -- real pigs.

Dr. Murray's team claims the studies are hearsay, because Dr. Schafer wasn't part of the tests.

Judge Michael Pastor has not ruled on the objection.

Neurologists and sleep specialists have been using propofol in health clinics to treat patients affected by Refractory Chronic Primary Insomnia. At the trial we will hear about Michael Jackson's health and I am sure they will confirm that he suffered from insomnia.

Nice try....but NO CIGAR! The world knows Michael suffered with insomnia in the past.
What you posted is a STUDY! Not an FDA approved treatment for the use of Propofol to cure insomnia or a sleep apnea.....
Also unless the individuals in that study had the exact medical diagnosis or medical history that Michael Jackson had (including Vitiligo,Plurisy, and Lupus).......
the study is a moot point in regards to Michael....

That study is proof of more government spending on something that does not work.......pleazzzzz

Obama To Stop In Denver On Sept. 27
Mile High Stop Part Of President's West Coast Swing
POSTED: 1:00 pm MDT August 31, 2011
UPDATED: 2:03 pm MDT August 31, 2011
WASHINGTON -- A White House official says President Barack Obama will make a three-day West Coast swing next month.
The president's trip will start in Seattle on Sept. 25. He will also make three stops in California: San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles.
Obama's trip will wrap up in Denver on Sept. 27. His visit will likely include a jobs event and a fundraiser.
Obama hasn’t visited Colorado since February 2010 when he appeared briefly at a rally and a fundraiser for now Democrat Sen. Michael Bennet, the Denver Post reported.
The president's travel schedule is picking up again following a summer that saw him largely stuck in Washington to deal with the contentious and protracted debate over raising the nation's debt ceiling and cutting government spending.
And expect to see more of Obama and the other presidential candidates as we approach the 2012 election. Colorado is considered a key battleground "purple" state that both Republicans and Democrats think they can win.
The official insisted on anonymity because the trip has not been officially announced.

The involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's live-in physician at the time of his death, begins with jury selection in Los Angeles on Thursday.

About 160... people will be considered for a spot on the jury, which will not be sequestered. The candidates will respond to a 30-page questionnaire about their familiarity with the case, as well as their opinions on the late King of Pop and Murray. After reviewing the materials, lawyers for the prosecution and defense will be able to ask the potential jurors questions beginning September 23.

The selection process began earlier this year, but was halted in May after Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor granted Murray's legal team more time to get their case in order.

The Houston-based doctor -- who will testify in his own defense in the trial -- was present at King of Pop's rented Holmsby Hills mansion when he unexpectedly died at 50 on June 25, 2009.

Jackson's official cause of death was deemed acute intoxication of a powerful anesthetic complicated by other sedatives.

Prosecutors claim Jackson died from a lethal dose of Propofol, a strong anesthetic which Murray's admitted to administering to Jackson to help him sleep. Murray's attorneys counter that Jackson might have drank or injected himself with the deadly dose while the doctor -- who'd just given him a dose -- was out of the room.

If convicted, Murray faces up to four years in prison, as well as losing his medical license.

Members of Michael Jackson's family are expected to attend the proceedings.

If Michael Jackson did no longer suffer from insomnia in 2009 and yet Dr. Murray was injecting him with the propofol as a "sleep-aid" then this is not a manslaughter case we are dealing with. The correct term would be murder in the second degree. But people close to Michael have been saying that the last days of his life he could not sleep at night and begged for propofol. Michael Jackson is dead and cannot give his side of the story unfortunately.

???????
OK, then Let those volunteers stand trial as witnesses. In the end, find those who carried out this experiment (doctors, scientists) and lead them to the test as witnesses. Probably after that there will be new volunteers from the courtroom or from the people around. Murrays team will go hard with it!
