Skinnygirl Margarita

is Full of CRAP ... says Lawsuit

9/8/2011 6:16 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

It ain't just Whole Foods that has an issue with the ingredients in Bethenny Frankel's Skinnygirl Margarita -- now, a class action lawsuit has been filed against the company that owns the brand.

In the suit, filed in federal court in California, Reneta Bonar claims she and many other people have been duped by Beam Global Spirits for making "deceptive statements" on the label of Skinnygirl.

According to the lawsuit, Beam advertises the drink as "all natural" -- and claims it contains no preservatives. But Bonar says it's all BS because the drink contains a preservative called sodium benzoate.

Skinnygirl was recently yanked off the shelves at Whole Foods -- after the market decided the drink was not using all natural ingredients.

Bonar is suing to force Beam to "engage in a corrective advertising campaign" ... and pay unspecified damages.

Beam has issued a statement saying, "In today's litigious society, nothing is surprising. The litigation filed in relation to the labeling of Skinnygirl Margarita is frivolous. We will defend our case vigorously, and we are fully confident we will prevail."

Anyone who buys an alcoholic beverage type drink thinking that it is 100% natural quite frankly must have a few screws loose to begin is an alcoholic beverage for goodness some point there is something in there that will harm you especially if one imbibes enough of it...GMAB

secondly what damages exactly were done to this person??????once again another frivolous lawsuit in order for someone to attempt to cash in on what??????

No wonder people who are really harmed in many instances and have legitimate recall to sue struggle so in this day and age.....

It appears that to many people are jealous of Bethenny. Let's face it... she created something that many people bought and then she sold her company and made a nice profit. I do not believe she went out of her way to screw or deceive anyone. Grow up folks... and get a life!

I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37" HDTV to my boss for $60...0 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use

Stupid People Hater

I am sure they are labeling within the guidelines of the law but they are alienating themselves from the people who would buy it.

Will she start a new line of beverages called, "Ugly Girl?"

The woman "harmed" was not. The product advertising is wrong. They will prevail on the merits of "all natural" actually meaning something.

did this crappy product injure anyone? was the plaintiff forced to drink it by the manufacturer? i hope the judge throw this frivolous case out.

The problem here is that she was marketing a product that not only said "all natural", her original (which she recently changed) website description also said "without any preservatives or coloring". Also the particular ingredient of sodium benzoate is not the only issue. The issue is that when it is combined with vitamin C (in her case her product is filled with limes) it creates a known carcinogen called "benzene". So with that said, this despicable liar should be held accountable for false advertisement. She had no problem with pushing this disgusting product on all her moronic fans but when she was called out on this issue she even responded with an indignant, arrogant answer, like the greedy, selfish person she is.

And for you, "Sanity Please", go educate yourself because an ignorant person such as yourself is apparently one who needs further education.
