Jewish Orgs. to Warner Bros.

BOOT Mel Gibson

from Maccabee Movie

Two powerful Jewish organizations are lashing out against the decision to hire Mel Gibson to produce a movie about biblical Jewish hero Judah Maccabee ... TMZ has learned.

The Anti-Defamation League has released a statement -- demanding Warner Bros. pull Gibson off the flick immediately ... saying, "As a hero of the Jewish people and a universal hero in the struggle for religious liberty, Judah Maccabee deserves better."

The statement adds, "It would be a travesty to have the story of the Maccabees told by one who has no respect and sensitivity for other people’s religious views."

TMZ also spoke with Rabbi Marvin Hier -- founder and Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center -- who tells us putting Mel Gibson work on a movie about a Jewish hero is "like having a white supremacist portray Martin Luther King Jr."

FYI -- Judah is a central figure in the story of Hanukkah ... as the brave warrior who drove enemies of Judaism out of Jerusalem.

It is well known that some Hollywood leaders have opposed Mel Gibson since the making of the Passion of the Christ. In this generic term "some" most of them were of the Jewish religion. Where I do believe that all people have some kind of prejudice, I believe that Mel is mostly nose to nose this this bunch and they scream PREJUDICE to cover up their prejudice.

Mel has never been one to be told not to do something and we all know that he is an incredible actor, better in some character then others.

I think Hollywood and a few need to look at the fingers pointing back at them and look into the mirror and realize they are doing exactly what they are accusing. Meanwhile, I hope Gibson depicts the story as he would always do it....truefully according to history. To determine the truth in all the lies that are out there.

my thoughts.

I just love how the Anti-Defamation League continues to defame others. They're just a bunch of hypocrites. Plus, I'm sure Mel thanks them for the free publicity.

Jews in hollywood are like a Union. If you aren't Jewish, how dare you make this movie. If you aren't a Democrat, how dare you work in Hollywood.

Hmm. Might want to ask the Jewish community what month this is on the Hebrew Calendar, in the context of a season of preparation for the forthcoming Feasts of Yom Teruah and Yom Kippur. Perhaps they should follow Torah and at least talk to Mel to see what might be on his heart lest they be commiting Lashon Hara. Just a thought from a Goy with a heart for the Seed of Avraham.

Cynical old me says donations are down so the ADL and SW Center have to set up a straw man controversy.

Cooley,

I don't think someone that uses the moniker "Cooley" has much to say about anyone else being racist. And if you are ignorant of what I am referring to the burden is on you, as is the fault. Nonetheless, it is hypocritical of you to put someone else down for what you are yourself exhibiting.

So much for tolerance. You know if my Catechism recollections are correct there is a Maccabees in the Holy Bible as well.

I mean seriously the ADL and the Wiesenthal Center supposedly are there to teach tolerance and acceptance. I guess when it comes to Mel the kind of don't practice what they preach now do they?

I think Mel has the right to freedom of expression just like everyone else. He did a great job on Passion of the Christ so he will do a good job on other projects as well. If you don't like him just don't go to see his movies. I am getting sick of people who want freedom only for what they agree with.

With all due respect to the Anti-Defamation League and Rabbi Marvin Hier...they're both full of s**t. I'm sure Mel Gibson will do a wonderful job with this movie.

Passion of Christ never was a film anti-semitic. Mel is not anti-semitic, never was. The film portraies the reality history of the Bible. Mel was faithful to the Holy Writs. They leave Mel in peace. They leave it to work. Mel has sensitivity leaving for the pores. Because to catch Mel to crucificar? It is what they are making. They stop! It arrives! They had not understood Christ, they are not understanding Mel, an excellent actor and director. A person of goodness in the heart.
