Jewish Orgs. to Warner Bros.

BOOT Mel Gibson

from Maccabee Movie

Two powerful Jewish organizations are lashing out against the decision to hire Mel Gibson to produce a movie about biblical Jewish hero Judah Maccabee ... TMZ has learned.

The Anti-Defamation League has released a statement -- demanding Warner Bros. pull Gibson off the flick immediately ... saying, "As a hero of the Jewish people and a universal hero in the struggle for religious liberty, Judah Maccabee deserves better."

The statement adds, "It would be a travesty to have the story of the Maccabees told by one who has no respect and sensitivity for other people’s religious views."

TMZ also spoke with Rabbi Marvin Hier -- founder and Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center -- who tells us putting Mel Gibson work on a movie about a Jewish hero is "like having a white supremacist portray Martin Luther King Jr."

FYI -- Judah is a central figure in the story of Hanukkah ... as the brave warrior who drove enemies of Judaism out of Jerusalem.

If these stubborn little brats manage to get Mel booted, I hope people will boycott the movie.

What has happened to TMZ? Is this site becoming a activist site?

These Jewish groups are their own worst enemies! Mel has apologized profusely for his drunken rant, and now wants to do something good for the Jewish people. THEY however are acting like demanding brats. Get over it, and be grateful to Mel. you are making yourselves look very bad.

Really? This is what the ADL is for?

No doubt, Mel's drunken rant was despicable, but lots of things drunks do are despicable.

Didn't Mel apologize? Is "forgiveness" not a part of Judaism?

The ADL just comes across as petty and vindictive, which won't create a lot of sympathy for the cause.

I hope no one from those two organizations drives Mercedes Benz or BMWs considering Germany's history of crimes against Jews.

I do think Mel's acting career is over, but he will still be able to direct and produce. If Woody Allen and Roman Polanski can go on and make movies, so can he.

This should be the case but sadly with harvey/TMZ they will hound this man to his grave.
If anyone dare say anything about jews, gays or the liberal agenda they are put on harvey***** list.
good luck Mel. hope youre allowed to make an awesome movie.

How come these Jewish organizations
are not demanding that the Jews of Wall St
(who created the financial ruin to this
country with their money grabbing practices)
get booted from their jobs!

'cause Jews stick together and protect
only their own azzes...

GO MEL!

What do I think? I think that Mel Gibson should be protected by the 1st amendment just like the rest of us! I read an article where the head of the anti defamation league says: “Judah Maccabee deserves better", "He is a hero of the Jewish people and a universal hero in the struggle for religious liberty. It would be a travesty to have his story told by one who has no respect and sensitivity for other people’s religious views.”

I find this ironic since Mel's religious liberty has been trampled on for far too long. There is certainly no respect or sensitivity shown towards his religious views. Let the man make the movie. We might learn something... and for a change actually be entertained!!!

Curious

ROFLMAO!!!
Right, and who didn't see this coming?

With all due respect to Mr. Abe and Rabbi Heir, they appear to have a few facts wrong here.
1. This is Mr. Mel's intellectual property. Warner doesn't have the option to drop him from the project - it's HIS project. Of course, Warner could try and do a movie like it on their own but then they would a lawsuit on their hands. Not only would it cost them money, the publicity would be hilarious.
2. Warner didn't pick Mr. Mel, Mr. Mel picked Warner. There are other studios out there interested in making this film.
3. And even if the ADL and company succeeded in turning every studio against Mr. Mel (again), we all know what will happen. Mr. Mel will make the movie anyway and shut them all out of the profit (again).

"produce a movie about biblical Jewish hero Judah Maccabee" The thing is: Judah Maccabee is not in the Bible. There is no book about Judah Maccabee. He is pos Bible history.
