Amy Winehouse's Dad

Ex-Husband Put Singer

On Path of Self-Destruction

9/13/2011 12:27 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Amy Winehouse
's father claims her ex-husband laid the groundwork for the singer's ultimate demise -- insisting it was Blake Fielder-Civil who first introduced her to hard drugs, like heroin.

Mitch Winehouse doesn't blame Amy's death on Blake -- who's currently serving time for a burglary and firearm offense -- but in an interview with Anderson Cooper, Mitch was pretty adamant ... if it weren't for BFC, Amy's life would NOT have spiraled out of control the way it did.

If this man truely cared about his daughter the time to do something was before she died.

It is about time for Amy's parents to let her rest in peace by, among other things, stopping all comments and taking care of their own lives. Dignity above all.

Cop out ! NO ONE can make me an addict if I don't want to do drugs or alcohol.

Not speak out? He should just stay in silence while people bash his daughter? As far as done something? You tell me how you force an adult to do anything much less an addict from taking drugs? It is beyond stepping in.
It is amazing how compassionless you all are. Yes she did this to herself and we all do things that might be in detriment to our health like smoking, not exercising, being overweight etc...does that mean those who develop lung cancer, diabetes, have a heart attack young don't deserve our sympathies?
You are all brutal.

easy to understand why a father would feel that way..partly right
... if it were not Blake giving her the first taste.....
however it may well have been someone else ..or her own curiosity about drugs, that started it off
being an addictive personality, sadly it may have just been a matter of time

Ok so he says it isn't BFC's fault but then says he introduced Amy to the drugs, but it isn't his fault. If there was EVER a way to dodge the slander and libel laws in the UK, this would be it. Get your message out but don't blame the parties.

its never the addicts fault ya right....if people want to use they will and if they want to abuse get out of the way cause the average Joe aint gonna stop em

Leader of the ignorant masses

Funny because i have been around plenty of people who do drugs and still managed to never touch them. There were existing issues there for her to allow herself to be lead down that path. And that road usually starts from home.

I'm really sick of hearing about this person, enough already hopefully someone will learn from her mistakes and not go the path she herself chose. Unfortunately her father will never get over the loss of his daughter and hasn't been able to come to terms. People do what they want to do, if it wasn't her ex then it would of been someone or someplace etc.. Sad facts of truth!

Sorry, but I must say. Who RAISED Amy? Quit trying to blame her death on people, accept YOUR responsibility for YOUR part in her death. And another thing, AMY was ultimately responsible for her own death. Sad, but true. There was a lack of parenting to begin with.

Or maybe it was just onset-of-bad-parenting ...

Beginning before Amy was two.

Different Rules Apply

People need to take responsibility for their own actions/ addictions. Blaming others is futile. RIP Amy - it was YOUR choice.

Do not blame anyone for Amy's decisions. She was the only one in control of her decisions. Period.

How about maybe someone should've got her the help she needed...too little too late...R.I.P

If he really wants to blame someone, he should blame himself for bad parenting
