ESPN to Hank Williams:

YOU'RE FIRED

10/6/2011 7:38 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Hank Williams
The Monday Night party is over for Hank Williams ... ESPN has just fired the singer, days after he compared President Obama to Hitler.

ESPN had already pulled the song from Monday's game while they mulled Williams' fate -- but now, it's permanent.

ESPN released a statement, saying, "We appreciate his contributions over the past years.  The success of Monday Night Football has always been about the games and that will continue."

As we previously reported, Williams went on Fox News earlier this week, and referred to Obama and Joe Biden as "the enemy."

He later called his comments "dumb" -- but never really apologized for saying them.

I hear they are going to replace him with either Adam Lambert or Matisyahu.

Conservatives are Cowards

Unfortunately, the "conservative" ideology is imbued with hate, creating enemies and bogeymen and scapegoating. It has little to nothing to do with solving problems, preserving justice or fair play. These simply are not good people, and they bring nothing tangible to the table. It's all about marginalizing others, blaming others, pointing fingers and blaming people for the lack of solutions.

But as "conservatives" prove on a regular basis, you do not need solutions as long as you have scapegoats and enemies. I only fear to see what happens when they run out of people to blame for their ignorance and laziness and have to realize that they, and their intellectually bankrupt ideologies, are to blame for the majority of problems we face.

And all you "conservative" pansies whining about his treatment, how soon you freaks forget the treatment you all gave to Natalie Maines for making a far more innocuous comment. So, in regards to that, your fake outrage is laughable, as usual. But once again, as long as you can play the poor, pathetic victim card, you don't need to realize your own actions (assuming that you clods are smart enough to remember your actions). Quit crying and begging for sympathy, you losers.

There is no such thing as FREEDOM OF SPEECH anymore. Our country is going to hell in a hand basket and we are along for the ride.

So after years of service he gets the ax for a mistake, what man has never made a mistake. You are telling me the CEO of ESPN never made a mistake. The comment was wrong but he does not deserve this.

He didn't CALL the President Hitler he was making a comparison between how different Obama and Boehner are. Yes, maybe it was the wrong person to use in the comparison but let's not blow this out of proportion. Did Nancy Pelosi get fired when she called the Tea Party Nazi's? So sick of this PC society!!

I would sue ESPN if I were him. First off, he wasn't comparing Obama to Hitler ( which still should have been ok)..it was an analogy on polar opposites. ESPN is controlled by Disney and ABC. The are pro OBAMA. I will never watch ESPN again.

Always the liberals whining about what you can do and can't do. It gets worse everyday. "You can't play certain games on the playground or the kids will get hurt" "you can't say Merry Christmas" "you can't say how you feel about obama but you can dog George Bush" " we are taking soda out of the machines" "you can't put as much salt as you want on your food" etc..

This is America and Freedom of Speech allows us to say whatever we want. ESPN also has the right to decide how they want their company represented. Actions have consequences people and sometimes you need to use a little common sense.

So much for freedom of speech. You can think what you want, but don't you dare say it. It can cost you money, get you fired and your face can be plastered all over the web with large font above yelling YOUR FIRED!! For shame. They might as well make a big pile of his CDs and burn them Dixie Chick style. Who cares if they had a point? Who cares if they have an opinion. You will be punished for expressing them. Stupid American's. And you'll just let this happen and laugh...why? Because it's not you. But you wait...one day you just might get censored yourselves...

Show me where he called Obozo a nazi. He was making a comparison. If he had used redneck and yuppie there wouldn't have been a story. But no matter. I'll be buying more Hank cd's than watching MNF or using their sponsors.

For the rednecks that are wondering about free speech, Free speech doesn't apply to this at all. Free speech makes it so the government can't interfere. This is a private company and could fire him at will. Free speech does not mean free from consequences.
