'Simpsons' Actor

I'll Take a MASSIVE Paycut,

But I Want ...

10/7/2011 9:16 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Harry Shearer -- who voices Smithers, Mr. Burns and several other major characters on "The Simpsons" -- says he is willing to take an even BIGGER pay cut than FOX wants him to ... but he has a demand of his own.

Shearer and the rest of the cast have been asked to take a 45% reduction in salary in order for the show to continue. Shearer says he's willing to cut his salary a whopping 70% -- but he wants a percentage of the show's profits ... something he says the cast has been denied for years.

Shearer says his reps approached FOX with the idea ... but we're told there are "simply no circumstances under which the network would consider allowing me or any of the actors to share in the show’s success."

Ironically, Mr. Burns would probably have the same answer.

FOX has no comment.

I don't think this request is unreasonable. A lot of actors get producers credit and profit perks for a show long before now. Sure the actors are getting paid a TON of money for sitting there and talking, but if they take a pay cut I think they should be compensated somehow.

BS BS BS they overproduced the simpsons and at 500 shows plus they are competing with thier own reruns and THAT is the only reason the show Has to end.Ten years of standard TV and than into rerun to double the market of your product.Even if they made the whole show for free it would still lose money as it is in the way of the marketing of the reruns,Like I said if I watched 200 times a year for 20 years in rerun I would only see each show 10 times and that is a huge lose of markets of a show in the can that is free and cost nothing to rerun.BILLIONS UPON BILLIONS in american rerun markets and overseas rerun sells.A movie in a few years and maybe one more after about ten years and 20 years of reruns that would mean a 43 year run on the markets and I would only see each show 20 times or so.It`s marketing time makes it a must kill but the product is still selling NO show has ever done that and it has outlived it`s own cost effective markets.NO one will watch the same show over about ten years than the tail end rerun markets takeover. The producers are playing games with the unions again trying to lower cost ALL productions UNION BUSTING the simpsons has to die or lose billions of market rerun sells.

23 years and 500 shows IS TO MUCH PRODUCT to market so they produced it for TOO LONG no show ever runs that many years without loseing some of it`s rerun markets.UNION BUSTING BS the product has overlived it`s rerun marking thus it MUST be killed or they lose billions in rerun markets. The writers and actors could PAY to make the show and it would still lose billions competing with it`s reruns.PURE UNION BUSTING kick at ALL SAG and UNION actors writers and talents both union and non-union.Say same BS about the market than cook thje books and MJ for some more billions in tail end marketings
