Jonathan Papelbon

Like the Red Sox Didn't Choke

10/10/2011 9:03 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

It doesn't matter that his team was eliminated from the MLB playoffs in one of the most epic September slides in baseball history -- Boston Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon went out this weekend and partied his face off anyway!!!

Papelbon -- who reportedly made $12 mil in 2011 --  hit up Bourbon Street in New Orleans with some buddies Friday night.

In case you missed it, Pap's Sox blew 18 of their final 24 games ... and were shockingly eliminated from the playoffs two weeks ago when they lost the last game of the regular season.

Who needs the World Series when you've got a fistful of beads?

Well I am a huge Red Sox fan but Pap is overrated as far as I am concerned..They can play Wild Thing all the way from the bull pen with his fist pumping testosterone crap..but he blows it a lot.
They blew it big time .End of story.Fenway is way too expensive to pay to watch them choke.
staying home next year..

Oh please TMZ, like he should? Pap had a great season. He did everything he could for this team. Yes he blew the last game but maybe 0.01% of the collapse is his fault. I know people think hes a douche but he's a stand-up guy, he's very accountable, he takes the blame when he knows he deserves it, he's a good teammate and hes a fun loving guy. He's one of the few Red Sox players who did all they could and don't deserve to be scorned. The Sox lost, doesnt mean he's going to be in mourning forever. Its been almost 2 weeks. Let him live his damn life.

Your brilliant staff exclusively covered a man at the wedding suite on the weekend of his wife's best friend's wedding. Sometimes people get to be happy. It's not always about celebrity and sports. If this was all you got, you missed plenty from the rest of the group. Also strangely absent was Ashley and Jon's little girl walking down the aisle as the cutest little flower girl anyone has ever seen and Jon darting up to help her out. Oh, that's right! Perhaps if you had been invited...

Seriously who cares, I am a Red Sox fan and I wish I was parting with him in Mardi gras. Should he be mopping???

Where's the "Sucks to be a New York Sports fan" headline this morning? Yankees booted from the play-offs, Giants lose, and best of all, Jets lose to New England! Order has been restored to the universe.

Papelbon had a great season, he lost that last game but he was not the one who choked. Starting pitching choked. At least Papelbon takes the blame when he pitches poorly, If this is at a wedding he was at maybe you need to follow all sports star who do poorly then have a good time at a wedding or on vacation etc Get a life TMZ the person who wrote this story choked!!

Dear Charles. Sorry that you are so emotionally unstable that you would be curled in a corner crying after losing. They lost 2 weeks ago and he is at his friends Bach. Party.

Papelbon's wife was a bridesmaid in a wedding in New Orleans. THAT's why he was there. I kinda doubt the bride planned the event of her life around his winning or losing schedule.
