Rapper Big Sean

Major Charges Dropped

In Underage Sex Abuse Case

Rapper Big Sean has dodged a serious bullet -- TMZ has learned he will not be charged with sexually assaulting an underage girl back in August ... but he's not entirely in the clear.

23-year-old Sean -- who got a 2011 MTV VMA nomination for best new artist -- was arrested in August during a concert in Buffalo, NY ... after a 17-year-old girl told police the rapper and his friend had sexually assaulted her.

Big Sean -- real name Sean Michael Anderson -- was charged with 3rd degree sex abuse, forcible touching and 2nd degree unlawful imprisonment.

But now, TMZ has learned prosecutors agreed to drop the first two charges on the condition that Big Sean plead guilty to misdemeanor unlawful imprisonment ... which carries a $750 fine.

Sean's lawyer Scott Leemon tells TMZ, the rapper has accepted the terms -- and has paid the fine -- but still insists "he did not engage in any type of sexual misconduct."

BS....they don't file charges if there isn't anything to back them up. Sounds like his lawyers did some real smooth talking. God I hate Celebrity Justice. Anyone else would be serving their time in jail as they should be! Underage is underage regardless of who you are or how famous you think you are. Sickening.....

So, $750.00 is the the going rate if you are a singer and you and your friend want to sexually assault a 17 year old girl in Buffalo, NY? Sick!

Yeah right. He's only guilty of "unlawful imprisonment" & I suppose he simply forced his 'guests' to stay because he wanted to read Bible passages to them. lol

Sad that someone can be accused of a sex crime & have a judge throw out the charges. Is it any wonder so many women & children do NOT even report sex crimes?

Just a matter of time before this lowlife messes up again. He doesn't have the intelligence or education to do otherwise.

He already has a bad reputation for just being a rapper. Too bad they don't put this trash away. He sings to get your kids into the streets.

I think the key statement here is "prosecutors agreed to drop the first two charges"! That, to me, means that it was the defense, not the prosecution, who instigated the deal. The prosecution just agreed to it.

So, basically, what I think happened was that 1) "someone" talked to the victim and/or her family, 2)convinced her in some way or another (scare/threat tactics, bribes, etc.) to not talk or cooperate with the investigation, and 3) convinced the victim to recant her statement concerning the 1st 2 (most serious)charges. Therefore, leaving the prosecution without a strong case. So in order to not leave empty handed, the prosecution agreed to the defense's deal.

Like another commenter said, the prosecution WOULD NOT have charged Big Sean if they didn't have the evidence to back it up. I truly do think Big Sean's camp (record label, lawyers, etc.) went into overdrive to salvage this dude's reputation and budding rap career. They've seen what a sullied reputation can do, i.e. Chris Brown (despite the "comeback" he's STILL in the doghouse), and what rape charges can do, i.e. Mystikal...

When are these young girls going to realize that they're not being invited backstage to play scrabble!? They dropped the charges because she went back there willing and what happened after can't be proven beyound a reasonable dount by the prosecution. Considering this is a he/said, she/said case, I'm surprised his attorney even took that plea.
