Joe Paterno is culpable and should be fired immediately. If I knew that someone had molested a child, I would go to the POLICE, not their dam EMPLOYER!!! This just makes me sick...he put winning football games over the safety and protection of CHILDREN!! Shame on Paterno and shame on Penn State.

Look, there are accusations like this all the time. If he went to the police after every accusation then he'd be at the police station nearly every day. How do we know that he wasn't lied to, that they told him there was nothing to it?

This idea that men can all witness or be aware of a man screwing a boy's mouth in the men's shower rooms and their only "duty" is to report it up their work food chain is ridiculous.

Its a crime. If they witnessed or knew of some other crime in the locker rooms, they don't report it? They ALL have cell phones clipped to their belts. They call thecops when they see someone in the University parking lot taking a handicapped spot or going too fast.

Its all just like the Catholic priest scandal. We accept that some young priest can stand there watching an older Pastor or two or three other priests screwing a little boy and all he has to do is "maybe" report it to the Bishop (who is in on the scheme)?

Why would FOOTBALL coach daddies be held to some low standard such as watching out for their JOBS? Janitors don't call cops? Grad students don't call cops? They're WATCHING a middle aged man get head from a little boy in the university showers and do nothing but make some report to their bosses later? MAKES NO SENSE.

Unless its the man-boy sex culture which guides them all. This sense that scandal is bad for their jobs is one thing. But they all apparently know how to watch and just turn their heads when its man-boy sex happening.

And why is Paterno so "SHOCKED" when Sandusky worked under him, was in his team's shower room and had been informed as to what his asst coach was doing? How can he be so shocked? Paterno should have covered his a$$ better if he expected any credibility now.

i don't know about college, but in public school it is the teacher's responsible that they report any possible issues immediately to the police... had a principal in st. louis who tried to investigate before going to police... was sent to jail for not taking immediate action... the child's safety is always primary.. what if it was your kid???

There's a problem here

Whoa! A few people SAW THIS MAN RAPING A CHILD AND DIDN'T STOP IT??? Sweet Mother of Jesus, if I ever saw something like that I would first protect the child, second land a large leather shoe directly in the man's balls. WTF is wrong with these people who knew and kept their mouths shut because football is GOD? THEY ARE ALL COMPLICIT!!!

I work for a university. I would absolutely call the police (even based on second hand information), and then inform my superiors. This is a CHILD. What they all did was dispicable.

Shouldn't the assistant coach that seen the act be held to the same standards and went to the police as well when nothing came of him going to paterno?

I've worked with several football teams before and basically the head coach does whatever they want. there is no "protocol" they do as they please. everyone just has to hope that the coach has high morals. so for Paterno to go to his superiors he was simply trying to wash his hands of the issue and put the obligation in someone else's court. he didnt want to deal with it and he was ok with his superiors not saying anything. he should have gone to the police.

Cain has serious memory problems. Yet another reason not to vote for the idiot.
