Penn State

Mike McQueary will NOT

Coach Against Nebraska

11/10/2011 9:07 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Mike McQueary
Penn State has announced receivers coach Mike McQueary -- the man who witnessed Jerry Sandusky allegedly rape a boy in the PSU locker room in 2002 -- will NOT coach against Nebraska on Saturday ... out of fear for McQueary's safety.

The university released a statement reading, "Due to multiple threats made against assistant coach Mike McQueary, the university has decided it would be in the best interest of all for assistant coach McQueary not to be in attendance at Saturday's Nebraska game."

McQueary has been under fire for not doing anything to stop the alleged rape -- and then going to Joe Paterno instead of the police.

Important to note ... McQueary was NOT pulled from the game because officials felt he did something wrong ... he was pulled for safety reasons.

Unbelievable.

There is SOMETHING here that we don't know. The information we have makes his inaction at the time of the crime completely inexcusable. And yes, there are a LOT of bad guys with poor judgment at Penn State who definitely failed in protecting the victims. But there is a very big piece of this puzzle that those guys know about that we don't know - which makes me hesitant to light up my torch and storm Penn State's campus. Was he abused too? Did his system go into total shock? Was he being threatened or blackmailed by Sandusky or Paterno? DID he go to the cops but the cops refused to investigate and harm their beloved coach's reputation? There is a reason he's still on the payroll while so many others were cut loose... and as awful as it looks on paper, let's remember that we don't have all the facts.
Or maybe I'm wrong and he is THAT cowardly and selfish and the administration is THAT stupid. In which case... carry on. But please wait for all the facts to come out. The players, the students, and the victims - none of whom asked to be in the middle of this situation - deserve better than this mob mentality we have going on.

This man should be fired as well, why would you not intervene when you just witnessed a crime against a child?!!!!

ellen 110 you are wrong--he did witness the anal rape ..read the grand jury report-he told Paterno & the AD & AVP-the AD & AVP lied to the grand jury about what he told them-what is why they got arrested-he told the grand jury the truth what he witnessed-the AD & AVP tried to say he only told them they were horsing around--where McQ made is mistake-not questing what was done, taking a promotion, & turning a blind eye when JS was still on campus with boys-your facts are wrong read the report McQ witnessed anal sex-read the report..

Not only should McQueary be fired, he should be charged, and his father, a friend of Sandusky, are you kidding me? They both were involved with covering it up!

First and foremost the people involved in this should have called police, everyone of them at the first sign of abuse, and that includes Paterno and McQuery. No mistake about it.

But as I read the posts on here I become more and more frustrated that nobody, and I mean nobody seems to care about the victims feelings in this. But here is something everyone should consider, and it applies to Mike McQuery and this comes from the Attorney assisting in REPRESENTING THE VICTIMS. The full article can be found at http://bleacherreport.com/articles/935361-joe-paterno-fired-alleged-victims-attorney-finds-fault-with-paterno-firing and here are two quotes of his regarding the situation:

The board of trustees got it wrong. They should have consulted the victims before making a decision on Mr. Paterno . They should have considered these victims watch TV and are aware of the students' reaction and may not want to be associated with the downfall of Mr. Paterno (or McQuery, my words). The school instead elected to do what it felt was in its own best interest at the time. Isn’t that what put the school in this position in the first place?

In the wild and tumultuous night that followed Paterno's firing, not one person that I saw raised the question on how the victims might be receiving the news.

He continues:

The way the Board reached its decision raises more concerns than the decision itself. There is no indication the Board considered the impact of the decision on the abuse victims...They see the students reaction to the termination, and to think this does not weigh on their minds would be naive.

Now these victims should not feel any of this is their fault and we should do everything to protect them from abuse. So do any of you not realize these victims read newspapers, watch TV and have access to the internet. How do you think that shower victim might feel reading the posts on here? Do you think he might relive that horrible disgusting act over and over again when everywhere he turns its in front of him?

All I'm asking is that all of us remember the victims in this and that they actually may be reading these posts.

Penn State must be infested with s*** bags if they were even considering this guy to coach, Despite his turning his back to a child rape! And what's up with the students protesting that old dudes firing?!!!! Football and money seems to trump the well being of a child!
DISGUSTING!

Well, I'm glad Penn State is so concerned about protecting this "man's" safety. Too bad McQueary wasn't as concerned about the safety of a defenseless little boy. So, so sad.

@ Avery, I heard that call in also and thought the same thing. I wanted to smack the student body pres. upside his head. Another Penn State coward! "We don't have all the facts"? are you kidding? yeah, he actually said that and when Harvey reminded him that it was McQueary's statement he got all ****y and said, "I've got other interviews and you've already taken up 20 min." The arrogance, seems to perpetuate Penn State..They're all about their football, bottom line. Fire McQueary as it is the only right thing to do.

McQueary needs to GO!! HE witnessed this child being raped and did nothing! He was a strong young man, who easily could've overpowered Sandusky and stopped the rape and gotten that child to safety! Instead, he put his own best interests ahead of those of a child. He is the worst kind of coward. If PSU has ANY morals left(which I def question) they need to get rid of that POS!

How can the Grand Jury charge the higher ups with failure to report and NOT McQueary? He could have and should have stopped the rape when he walked in and saw it happening. At the very least, he should have gone to the police. It is an outrage that Penn would fire Jo and not this guy--who, it could be said, aided in the rape by not stopping it. Do people not understand the facts? Why is his outrageous negligence not the biggest topic???? He was 28 years old!!!! He was an adult--who witnessed a violent crime against a child!!

This is the worst case of injustice for a victim in the so called modern society. All of these so panty waste man should have the same thing done to them with people walking by to see and not lift a hand to help them.. How does a grown man turn a blind eye to a chile being raped??? Way did they not stop the rape?? I hope this takes Penn State to the ground so deep they can't dif theis self out.

To think MY team is going to play PSU this weekend sickens me period. This so-called coach needs to be handcuffed today!!! And why does he get rewarded to possibly coach a game after witnessing child rape and NOT going to the police? This is one of the worst disgraces in American History. And yes PSU is finished!
