Jay-Z

Occupy T-Shirts Disappear

Amid Criticism

11/12/2011 11:32 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Jay-Z Occupy Wall street T-Shirts
Jay-Z and Rocawear have removed their Occupy Wall St. themed t-shirts from Rocawear.com -- after the rap mogul came under heavy fire for profiting off the protests, without donating anything to the cause.

Jay-Z was photographed wearing the "Occupy All Streets" shirts earlier this week and began selling them on his website. Checking the site today ... the shirts are now gone.

Before the t-shirts were pulled ... TMZ spoke with Grim, one of the leaders of the Occupy movement, who told us, "Jay-Z, as talented as he is, has the political sensibility of a hood rat and is a scrotum. To attempt to profit off of the first important social movement of 50 years with an overpriced piece of cotton is an insult to the fight for economic civil rights known as #occupywallstreet."

We've been calling Jay-Z's camp for the past two days ... no word back.

update_bar
As of Monday afternoon, the shirts have re-appeared on Rocawear.com, but they are on back order. Still no word back from Jay-Z's camp.

Jay-Z is on tour .. do ya'll fools really think he's somewhere contemplating what would be a good slogan to press on a damn t-shirt? ... I mean really? ... research his charities!!.. and the many great things he's done for communities here in the states and abroad ... stop riding this media bandwagon.

The sad fact is tmz has jumped the shark and gotten stale. If I want to hear about the kardashians every day I will join their website. Real housewives of wherever? Don't care. tmz used to be relevent. Get celebs who actually have talent and quit playing to little 12 year old girls who are still wearing a traing bra.

I support the Occupiers, and their right to do that. I hope we can all remember the people before us that made that right possible. I heard a Veteran say that when he was the age of the Occupiers, he was Occupying Normandy.

the 99% are the SCROTUMS...their 'protest's' arent accomplishing squat...except prostitution, drug activity and the like. The 1st 2 days ALONE of OCCUPY in NYC cost taxpayers 2 MILLION in overtime for extra police presence, barricades etc. That 2million is the same CUT from SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION LAST YEAR. SO whose paying for these protests? TAXPAYERS..aka the 99% who are bitching. Way to go ****tards

GOOD!
I was one of those who were disgusted by him trying to profit from the almost empty wallets of the 99% "have nots" such as myself
that tells us more about the character of him and his wife than their press releases or publicity machines ever could
they disgust me with their greed and self-absorption!!!!

Occupy wall street protesters should be going to work like the rich people they hate instead of loafing around eating catered meals complaining that no one gives them hand outs. Get a life and a work ethic if you want to be better off in life.

First of all, I agree that Rocawear shouldn't hustle the Wall Street occupants, but to put the heat on Jay-Z is absurd. If you know how a company runs, you'd agree. Last I check, he doesn't even sit on the Iconix Board of Directors, and it's not like Jay-Z plants his butt at Rocawear for a week/month/year straight. While the company, completely framed and structured, runs ON IT'S OWN, Jay is off touring with Kanye. Also, Rocawear stated that the company hadn't "made an official commitment to monetarily support the movement". Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't/shouldn't donate money to a cause [especially one as great as Occupy Wall Street] without a systematic way of doing so. I don't think critics gave enough time before running their mouths. Lastly, Priscilla Grim needs to keep, "hood rat" from her lips, because those words are not only unprofessional but derogatory and WAY out of line. #thatisall
