Jay-Z

Occupy T-Shirts Disappear

Amid Criticism

11/12/2011 11:32 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Jay-Z Occupy Wall street T-Shirts
Jay-Z and Rocawear have removed their Occupy Wall St. themed t-shirts from Rocawear.com -- after the rap mogul came under heavy fire for profiting off the protests, without donating anything to the cause.

Jay-Z was photographed wearing the "Occupy All Streets" shirts earlier this week and began selling them on his website. Checking the site today ... the shirts are now gone.

Before the t-shirts were pulled ... TMZ spoke with Grim, one of the leaders of the Occupy movement, who told us, "Jay-Z, as talented as he is, has the political sensibility of a hood rat and is a scrotum. To attempt to profit off of the first important social movement of 50 years with an overpriced piece of cotton is an insult to the fight for economic civil rights known as #occupywallstreet."

We've been calling Jay-Z's camp for the past two days ... no word back.

update_bar
As of Monday afternoon, the shirts have re-appeared on Rocawear.com, but they are on back order. Still no word back from Jay-Z's camp.

LOL The occupiers think they are some important social issue? They don't even know who bailed out the banks and big corps like GM with the little guys' tax money. Get a life, loafers.

JayZ was listed as the richest man in show biz this year, something like that. So wouldn't he be the enemy of this "occupy" group? Yet because he's black and espouses a liberal agenda, he is "one of them?" The liberal fat cats need to pay the piper. This Occupy movement seems quite stupid and ignorant, another excuse for layabouts to lie around on the streets and parks and party.

Blacks like JayZ are sell-outs. He exploits black folks, and folks who want to believe themselves to be "cool" . He's too AFRAID, cheap and selfish [big bad chit talking black man] to be on the record for supporting the movement, because he's a SLAVE to wall-street, He's their BOY. His dumb ass is too stupid to figure out how he's going to dig his butt out of this. Maybe he'll cut a check to Make a Wish or the Girls/Boys Club to show his social pseudo social "activism"

I can assure you Shawn Carter, you have never profited from me---now one red cent. Not your "music" your BS, specials---NOTHING--NOT OUR DEMOGRAPHICS... and stay as far away from the Kool-aid as I can.

I thought all the proceeds from the sale of the tee-shirts were going to purchase soap and water. And litter bags. And dumpsters. And Honey Buckets.

JayZ is the 1% they are protesting,so is Russell Simmons, so are most of the 'celebrities' that speak in favor of this movement ...which makes them all hypocrites by definition. At the very least JayZ makes no excuses for making money off his people, so why not these people? Its called capitalism and they are entrepreneurs.

I would be willing to bet the T shirts were pulled because he didn't want his brand associated with the rapes, drugs, overdoses, murders, and crime.
TMZ found some guy name Grim as spokeperson, that says it all.
