Penn State Alma Mater

Here Come the Waterworks

11/12/2011 9:15 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

0_0rnb5ydm_0_0v0jci5kA touching moment this morning before the big game between Penn State and Nebraska -- PSU fans arm-in-arm while they sang the University's Alma Mater ... and before long, the tears started flowing.

In case you're not familiar ... here's the last verse:

May no act of ours bring shame
To one heart that loves thy name,
May our lives but swell thy fame,
Dear old State, dear old State.

The right thing to do would have been to forfeit their remaining games this season. Then next season come back with an entirely new football staff with each person having no ties to Joe Paterno what so ever.

Why would students who have done nothing wrong in this crime (rape is a crime, not a scandal) be punished?

The individuals that are part of the issue are not on the field; so punishing these young athlete's is wrong. Regardless of crime or individuals punishing those that are not part of the issue is wrong. Shame on anyone for telling these boys that what they do doesn't matter (it doesn't to us, but it does to them) and trying to strip them of it.

In hearing and watching these students first reactions and watching them process it all it was clear to me at least that
On different levels then the abuse victims of course all of these young people are victims as well.
They struggle with shock, denial and rage, they deflect blame in order to cope, you can see the reality set in their faces as they grasp the magnitude of the truth.
None of these people will ever be the same, this will change each of them to the core.

The Predator's reach in robbing these young people of their youth and destroying their path was far and wide and ALL who enabled need to be brought to justice.

Now they can feel good about themselves and not offer any real support to the victims. "Hey, we all chanted and sent positive vibes. Our work is done here. Lets get on with our lives and watch some football!!!"

Clearly 'JoePa' didn't believe in the words of their morally just song. "He raped a boy in the shower? Lets restrict his access to the shower, that'll solve the issue. Who really cares about the sodomized kid who thought he was being lifted up and out of his under-privileged life?"

JoePa and McQueary are just as disgusting as Sandusky. How could they not care about someone being raped? Especially a child.

Actions speak louder than words!! Penn State is a disaster and until everyone involved is fired they have no credibility!!

I get that those "not directly" involved should not be punished in most cases. And probably in this case UNTIL the riots in the streets for Jopainintheass. No humanity for the victims just a football coach. That's right JUST A COACH sheesh.... It only takes one bad apple to sour all the other apples!!

For the negative people on here that are judging these students.... Over 10,000 of them held a candlelight vigil last night for the victims, the proceeds of all the blue shirts they wore today are being donated to Prevent Child Abuse PA, and a campaign has been started to raise at least $500,000 by Wednesday for the RAINN network (They are already almost at $300,000). Not to mention the fact that each year they hold the largest student run philanthropy in the world to fight pediatric cancer... just last year they raised over $9.5 million dollars. Do not speak of them like they have no hearts!

The only good thing that will come out of this is that pedophiles are on the front burner now, right up there with murderers and robbers.....I agree that the JoePa thing is ridic, he and that other redheaded jerk need to suffer, but Sandusky will burn in hell for this for sure!

Here's your wake-up call students of Penn State: you raise money for pediatric cancer through THON. Meanwhile, over in the showers of the athletic building..... Get the disconnect? What happened in that shower all those years ago--and to the other eight victims--threatens to undermine the good you do for kids with cancer. That should give you pause......
